How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Quality & Welding Engineer
    Location: UK / Project & Site-Based as Required

    We are looking for an experienced Quality & Welding Engineer to provide specialist technical assurance across welding, fabrication and inspection activities within the supply chain and on project sites.

    This is a key technical role, acting as the specialist point of authority for welding quality, ensuring that fabrication and welding activities comply with relevant industry standards, client specifications, contractual requirements and applicable regulations.

    Alongside project and supplier-based responsibilities, you will also support the wider Quality function through the development and improvement of quality procedures, management systems, audits and continual improvement initiatives.

    The role would suit a technically strong Quality or Welding Engineer who is confident working with suppliers, fabricators, clients and project teams and is comfortable challenging issues where required.

    Key Responsibilities Quality & Welding Engineer
    Welding & Fabrication Quality Assurance
    Act as the technical focal point for welding and fabrication quality.
    Review and approve Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), PQR/WPQRs and Welder Qualification Records.
    Ensure welding documentation complies with relevant standards, contractual requirements and client specifications.
    Witness inspections in accordance with supplier Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
    Provide hold-point authorisation and escalate significant quality findings where required.
    Raise and/or co-sign Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
    Support the development and review of welding and fabrication-related ITPs.
    Provide specialist welding quality input during tenders, contract reviews and project handovers.
    Provide technical support during fabrication, mobilisation and project delivery.
    Supplier & Subcontractor Assurance
    Conduct supplier and fabricator audits, assessments and technical reviews.
    Assess supplier welding capabilities and quality systems.
    Verify compliance with relevant welding, fabrication and inspection standards, including ISO 3834 where applicable.
    Carry out on-site welding surveillance and fabrication inspections.
    Support supplier selection by assessing welding and fabrication capability.
    Work closely with Procurement, Engineering and Project teams to ensure supplier quality requirements are met.
    Inspection, NDT & Technical Review
    Review NDT procedures, techniques, qualifications and reports.
    Ensure NDT activities are undertaken by appropriately qualified and certified personnel in accordance with ISO 9712 or equivalent standards.
    Review welding and fabrication acceptance criteria.
    Assess defects, repairs and concessions in conjunction with Engineering where required.
    Liaise with third-party inspection bodies and NDT contractors.
    Project Quality Support
    Provide specialist welding QA/QC support across projects, including EPCI, trenching, cable lay and asset build activities.
    Support FATs, fabrication inspections and mobilisation readiness.
    Provide quality support during site and offshore activities where welding is involved.
    Manage welding-related NCRs, concessions and corrective actions.
    Support root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.
    Produce regular written reports covering project progress, quality status, issues and potential schedule impacts.
    Quality Management System
    Support the Quality Manager with the development, review and improvement of quality procedures.
    Develop and update procedures relating to fabrication, welding, inspection and supplier assurance.
    Contribute to the maintenance and continual improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS) and Integrated Management System (IMS).
    Support document control and quality records management.
    Assist with internal audits and management reviews.
    About You

    We are looking for someone with strong technical credibility and hands-on experience in welding quality and fabrication environments.

    A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
    Professional welding engineering qualifications such as IWE or CWEng, or equivalent experience.
    Significant experience in welding QA/QC within engineering, fabrication, offshore or marine environments.
    CSWIP 3.2 or equivalent weld inspection qualification is highly desirable.
    Demonstrable experience reviewing and approving WPS, WPQR/PQR and welder qualifications.
    Strong working knowledge of relevant welding and fabrication standards, including:
    ISO 15614, ISO 9606, ISO 3834, ASME IX
    Experience reviewing NDT documentation and reports.
    Knowledge of ISO 9712 and relevant NDT certification schemes.
    Experience managing welding-related NCRs, concessions and corrective actions.
    Experience conducting supplier audits and fabrication surveillance.

    You will have the opportunity to work across suppliers, fabrication facilities and major projects, providing specialist expertise while also contributing to the development of quality systems and continual improvement across the wider business
