How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Mechanical Engineer (Repairs, Refurbishment & Rebuilds)

    About the Role

Our client, a specialist manufacturer of capital process equipment with expertise in polymer and rubber mixing technology, is looking for a Customer Service (Repairs / Refurbishment & Rebuild) Engineer to join their Customer Service Division.

This role is responsible for the technical and engineering activities relating to spares, service, repairs and rebuilds of the company's equipment, providing technical support to CSD staff, customers and other departments across the business. You'll produce manufacturing and purchasing information to enable parts to be sourced or manufactured and assembled to the highest standard, while acting as a key technical point of contact for customers and colleagues alike.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Produce assembly, manufacturing and detail drawings, BOMs, and purchased equipment specifications for repairs, refurbishment and rebuild projects, using 3D CAD (SolidWorks) and PDM to company standards, applying GD&T and DFMA principles.

    * Provide supporting engineering calculations for new designs or significant design modifications, and identify cost reduction/value engineering opportunities through alternative or new components and designs.

    * Manage design documentation and change control, including creation and updating of parts/BOMs in SAP, and processing engineering change notices (ECNs).

    * Issue technical reports on pre-used parts and machines, recommending repair, re-use or replacement, and support cost estimating for quotations and rebuild/repair orders.

    * Provide direct technical support to customers, CSD commercial staff, and service stations, including occasional site visits, technical/kick-off meetings and inspections.

    * Support production and manufacturing teams during assembly, DCI (dismantling, cleaning, inspection), scope-of-work preparation, functional testing and FAT (factory acceptance testing).

    * Participate in weekly project progress meetings and periodic design reviews with sales, quality, purchasing, production and service departments.

    * Conduct post-project reviews, capturing lessons learned and feeding improvements back to relevant departments.

    * Work closely with Sales, Purchasing, Production, Engineering and Field Service teams, supporting other group companies' engineering functions as required.

    Skills & Experience

    * Strong knowledge of GD&T and DFMA, with proven capital equipment/machinery design experience and understanding of the associated manufacturing processes.

    * Proficient in 3D CAD modelling (SolidWorks) and producing 2D manufacturing drawings; SAP experience advantageous.

    * Good technical knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, hydraulics, and fabrication/welding, along with awareness of relevant technical standards and regulations.

    * Experience producing purchase specifications for ancillary equipment (e.g. temperature control units, gearboxes) and strong problem-solving/troubleshooting ability.

    * Experience in polymer/rubber mixing technology or processing is desirable but not essential.

    * Excellent time management, communication and decision-making skills, comfortable working independently or within a small team and managing multiple tasks simultaneously.

    * Flexible, innovative and customer-focused, with the ability to respond to business needs and customer problems as they arise.

    Requirements

    * 3-5 years' experience with progressive responsibility in an engineering role

    * KNowledge of Solidworks

    * Bachelor's degree (or higher), HND, OND or ONC in Mechanical Engineering.
