How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Market Harborough

    * Are you a natural relationship builder who loves opening doors and creating new opportunities?

    * Do you thrive on developing genuine client relationships and turning conversations into new business?

    * Would you like the flexibility of a part-time role with the opportunity to make a real commercial impact?

    The Company:
ER Recruitment are delighted to be working exclusively with an established and successful professional services business based in Market Harborough, supporting clients across the UK.
With an impressive track record and a strong reputation within its market, the business is now looking to appoint a Business Development Manager to help build on its continued growth.
This is a newly focused opportunity for someone who enjoys being out in the market, meeting people, developing relationships and identifying where new opportunities can be created. You’ll have the support of an experienced senior team behind you, but the freedom to take ownership of your own business development activity.
The role offers approximately 22.5 hours per week, with flexibility around how these hours are worked, whether across three days or spread over four/five days. There will be a requirement for some office attendance, alongside time spent meeting clients and attending relevant events.

Role & Responsibilities of the Business Development Manager:

    * Proactively identify and approach new prospective clients, creating opportunities through networking, referrals, research and direct engagement.

    * Build and maintain strong relationships with prospective, existing and previous clients, identifying opportunities for repeat and new business.

    * Manage and develop a clear pipeline of opportunities, ensuring leads are followed up and progressed effectively.

    * Meet with clients and prospects to understand their requirements and identify where the business can add value, working closely with the Directors and wider team to develop opportunities.

    * Support fee proposals and follow opportunities through to appointment, ensuring effective handover to the relevant team.

    * Identify relevant frameworks, tenders and other routes to market and work with the internal team to pursue appropriate opportunities.

    * Represent the business at relevant networking events and industry meetings, helping to raise its profile and develop new connections.

    * Provide regular updates on pipeline activity, market opportunities and progress to the senior team.

About You as the Business Development Manager:

    * Proven experience in business development, sales, client relationship management or account development, ideally within professional services, construction, property, consultancy or a similar environment.

    * A confident and proactive approach to generating new business, you enjoy picking up the phone, making connections, arranging meetings and opening doors.

    * Strong relationship-building and influencing skills, with the ability to communicate confidently with decision-makers.

    * Commercially minded, organised and able to manage a pipeline of opportunities and prioritise your activity effectively.

    * A consultative approach to sales, with the ability to understand a client's needs and identify the right solution rather than simply sell a product.

    * Self-motivated, resilient and persistent, with the drive to keep opportunities moving even when the market is challenging.

    * Strong written and verbal communication skills and the confidence to represent a business externally.

    Additional Benefits:

    * £40,000 FTE basic salary, pro rata

    * Performance-related commission linked to individual and company performance.

    * Flexible working pattern, approximately 22.5 hours per week across three days or flexibly over four/five days.

    * Opportunity to take genuine ownership of business development activity and make a visible contribution to the continued growth of an established business.

Please note by applying for this role you give consent for ER Recruitment to retain your CV for up to 24 months for the purposes of assisting you to find your next role unless you notify us otherwise.
