How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Business Support Administrator - Families

    šŸ“ Location: City Archives, Wolverhampton (Office Based)
    šŸ•’ Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm

    About the Role

    City of Wolverhampton Council is seeking an experienced Business Support Administrator to join the Families team. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly organised and proactive administrator to provide essential support across a busy service area.

    The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality administrative and financial support, ensuring services operate efficiently and effectively while maintaining excellent customer service standards.

    Key Responsibilities

    Providing comprehensive administrative support to the Families Directorate.
    Acting as a first point of contact for internal and external enquiries.
    Organising, attending, and supporting meetings, including taking minutes and distributing actions.
    Managing diaries, scheduling meetings, and coordinating events and conferences.
    Processing financial transactions and supporting budget administration.
    Ordering goods, equipment, and resources in line with Council procedures.
    Managing incoming and outgoing correspondence, including email inboxes and post.
    Supporting recruitment and interview processes, including preparing interview packs and correspondence.
    Monitoring and managing Freedom of Information requests within required timescales.
    Preparing professional documents, reports, presentations, and training materials.
    Maintaining accurate records and updating service databases.
    Supporting Health & Safety requirements within Families Directorate buildings.
    Working collaboratively with colleagues, managers, and partner agencies to ensure effective service delivery.

    Essential Requirements

    To be considered for this role, you must have:

    āœ… Previous Business Support / Administration experience
    āœ… Strong organisational and time management skills
    āœ… Excellent communication and customer service skills
    āœ… Experience using Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
    āœ… Experience managing confidential information accurately and professionally
    āœ… The ability to prioritise workloads and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
    āœ… Minute-taking experience is desirable
