How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Summary of the Interim FM Project Lead role:

Our client is seeking an experienced Interim FM Project Lead to take responsibility for the end-to-end delivery of a diverse portfolio of facilities, infrastructure and capital projects within a complex, live operational environment. The role will manage multiple projects through the full project lifecycle, from feasibility and design through procurement, construction and commissioning to completion and operational handover.

Projects will range from minor works of approximately £100k through to major capital projects of up to £10m, requiring strong control of programme, cost, scope, quality and risk. The successful candidate will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, contractors, consultants and internal stakeholders, ensuring projects are delivered safely, effectively and with minimal disruption to ongoing operations.

This is a senior, hands-on interim project delivery role requiring an individual who can quickly establish themselves within the existing environment, take ownership of multiple workstreams and maintain momentum across project delivery. The role has a strong focus on procurement and contract management, commissioning, operational readiness and effective handover into Facilities Management operations, alongside strategic asset planning, business case development, sustainability and robust project governance.

Interim FM Project Lead – Key Responsibilities:

    * Lead the end-to-end delivery of multiple facilities, infrastructure and capital projects from feasibility and design through procurement, construction, commissioning, completion and operational handover.

    * Manage project programmes, milestones and critical paths, providing clear reporting on progress, performance, risks and dependencies.

    * Establish and maintain robust project controls covering programme, cost, scope, quality and change, taking corrective action where required.

    * Manage project budgets and financial performance, including forecasting, expenditure, cost reporting and value-for-money considerations.

    * Develop appropriate procurement strategies and manage tendering, evaluation, contractor selection, contract award and contract administration.

    * Ensure projects comply with applicable health, safety, environmental and regulatory requirements, including CDM Regulations, statutory approvals, testing and certification.

    * Manage project risks, issues and dependencies, coordinating interfaces between concurrent projects and operational activities to minimise disruption within a live environment.

    * Lead commissioning, testing, acceptance and operational-readiness activities, ensuring appropriate O&M documentation, as-built information, asset data, warranties, training and operational sign-off are completed.

    * Ensure asset information and planned maintenance requirements are appropriately established ahead of operational handover, managing defects and post-completion activities through to closure.

    * Support strategic asset management planning, business cases and options appraisals, considering safety, compliance, operational resilience, sustainability, lifecycle value and benefits realisation.

    * Embed whole-life cost, energy, carbon, maintainability and sustainability considerations into project design and delivery.

    Skills, Experience & Qualifications:

    Essential:

    * Proven project management experience delivering construction, facilities and/or infrastructure projects through the full project lifecycle within live operational or regulated environments, such as research, healthcare, pharmaceutical, higher education or similarly complex settings.

    * Demonstrable experience managing multiple concurrent projects, including the delivery of at least one major capital project through to completion, commissioning and operational handover.

    * Degree in engineering, building services, construction, project management or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience.

    * Recognised Project Management qualification such as PRINCE2 Practitioner, APM PMQ or equivalent.

    * Health & Safety qualification such as IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH Certificate.

    * Strong knowledge and practical experience of project delivery, procurement, contract management, commissioning, handover and asset management processes.

    * Strong experience managing project programmes, budgets, cost forecasting, risk and change control.

    * Experience managing contractors, consultants and multidisciplinary project teams.

    * Knowledge of procurement, contract administration and commercial management within facilities, infrastructure and/or construction project environments.

    * Good working knowledge of CDM Regulations and relevant health, safety and regulatory requirements.

    * Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with experience managing complex stakeholder relationships and communicating effectively with senior decision-makers.

    * Strong leadership, organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple projects and competing requirements.

    * Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to operate independently while working collaboratively as part of a wider team.

    Desirable:

    * Chartered Project Professional status, programme management qualification or membership/chartership of a relevant professional body.

    * Previous project delivery experience within a specialist research, laboratory, healthcare, pharmaceutical, higher education or similarly complex operational environment.

    * Experience of BIM, digital asset information management, CAFM/CMMS systems and asset-data management.

    * Knowledge of lifecycle costing, energy management and performance commissioning.

    * Experience contributing to strategic asset management plans and developing project business cases.
