How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    An excellent opportunity has arisen for an MEP Quantity Surveyor to join an established MEP contractor delivering major engineering and infrastructure works as part of the HS2 programme in West London.

    The successful candidate will take responsibility for the commercial management of MEP packages across a major infrastructure project, working closely with project management, engineering, procurement and commercial teams to ensure projects are delivered profitably and in line with contractual requirements.

    About the Role

    The MEP Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for the commercial management of mechanical and electrical packages from procurement through to final account, with a strong focus on cost control, subcontractor management and commercial reporting.

    Responsibilities

    Manage the commercial aspects of MEP packages across the HS2 project.
    Prepare and manage subcontract and supplier packages.
    Review and assess subcontractor quotations and tenders.
    Manage valuations, payments, variations and change control.
    Monitor project costs, forecasts and commercial performance.
    Identify commercial risks and opportunities throughout the project.
    Manage subcontractor accounts and ensure contractual obligations are met.
    Prepare commercial reports and provide regular cost information to project leadership.
    Assist with procurement and tendering of MEP packages.
    Attend commercial and project meetings with clients, subcontractors and suppliers.
    Manage variations, compensation events and final accounts where applicable.
    Work closely with engineering and project teams to ensure commercial and technical requirements are aligned.Requirements

    Previous experience as an MEP Quantity Surveyor / Quantity Surveyor within an MEP contractor or specialist subcontractor.
    Strong mechanical and electrical services knowledge.
    Experience managing MEP subcontract packages.
    Previous experience working on major infrastructure, rail or HS2 projects is advantageous.
    Strong understanding of procurement, valuations, variations, cost reporting and final accounts.
    Commercially astute with strong negotiation skills.
    Good understanding of relevant forms of contract.
    Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
    Relevant Quantity Surveying or commercial qualification is advantageous.What Our Client Offers
