How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Quantity Surveyor – Power & Utilities

    Bexleyheath / South East London
    £55,000–£60,000 + Car Allowance + Benefits

    Are you a Quantity Surveyor looking to develop your career within the power, utilities or infrastructure sector?

    JL Renewable Solutions is working exclusively with an established and growing infrastructure contractor looking to appoint a Quantity Surveyor to strengthen its commercial team across London and the South East.

    This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially driven QS who enjoys managing multiple projects rather than being tied to one major scheme. You'll join a supportive commercial team delivering a busy portfolio of power and HV infrastructure projects, with genuine opportunities to develop as the business continues to grow.

    The Role

    Working closely with the Commercial Manager, Project Managers and operational teams, you'll provide commercial support across a portfolio of projects from pre-construction through to completion.

    Typical responsibilities will include:

    * Managing project commercial performance and CVRs

    * Reviewing contracts and identifying commercial risk

    * Supporting projects through pre-construction and delivery

    * Preparing and managing valuations and applications

    * Managing variations, change and commercial notices

    * Monitoring project cashflow, cost and profitability

    * Supporting subcontractor and supply-chain management

    * Working closely with Project Managers across multiple live projects

    * Providing accurate commercial reporting and forecasting

    * Supporting final accounts and project close-out

    * Maintaining robust commercial controls across a busy portfolio

    Projects will include HV electrical infrastructure, substations, transformers and switchgear, typically within the 11kV–33kV environment.

    About You

    We're keen to speak with Quantity Surveyors who have around 3+ years' commercial experience, although we're also open to ambitious individuals ready to make the next step in their career.

    Ideally, you'll have:

    * Previous Quantity Surveying experience within power, utilities, infrastructure, civil engineering or a similar contracting environment

    * Experience managing CVRs and project commercial performance

    * An understanding of NEC and/or bespoke contracts

    * Strong commercial and analytical skills

    * Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously

    * Confidence working closely with operational and project delivery teams

    * Good communication and stakeholder-management skills

    Previous power, HV or substation experience would be advantageous but isn't essential where you can demonstrate strong transferable commercial experience.

    Salary & Package

    The successful Quantity Surveyor can expect:

    * £55,000–£60,000 basic salary

    * Car allowance

    * 25 days' annual leave + bank holidays

    * Pension

    * Life assurance

    * Professional development and qualification support

    * Additional employee benefits

    * Long-term career progression

    Location

    The role is based from the company's South East London office, supporting projects predominantly across London and the surrounding areas.

    There is flexibility around where candidates are based, so applications are welcomed from Quantity Surveyors across South East London, Kent and the surrounding areas.

    Interested?

    If you're a Quantity Surveyor looking for greater responsibility, exposure to a varied portfolio of projects and the opportunity to develop your career within the growing UK power infrastructure market, I'd be keen to hear from you.
