How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Join a specialist manufacturing business as a Junior Assembly Technician and begin a hands on career in cable and panel assembly. This Junior Assembly Technician position offers full training, structured development, and a clear path to progress into an Assembly Technician role.

    Duties

    • Measure, cut, strip and prepare cables for assembly
    • Prepare connectors, components, heat shrink materials and identification products
    • Assist with cable assemblies, panel builds and mechanical assembly work
    • Follow technical drawings, bills of materials and production instructions
    • Use hand tools and workshop equipment safely and correctly
    • Carry out quality checks to ensure work is completed accurately
    • Maintain a clean, organised and safe work area
    • Support the Assembly team in meeting production targets

    Experience

    • Good practical skills and manual dexterity
    • Comfortable using basic hand tools
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
    • Able to follow instructions and work in a methodical way
    • Keen to learn new technical skills and develop as a Junior Assembly Technician
    • Good communication and teamwork skills
    • Reliable, organised and punctual
    • GCSE Maths and English, or equivalent
    • Previous manufacturing, workshop or assembly experience would be beneficial
    • Any experience with soldering, crimping, fibre optics, cable assembly or panel wiring would be advantageous
    • Ability to read technical drawings and use test equipment would be desirable
    • Technical or engineering qualifications and a full UK driving licence would be beneficial
