How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Lead Product Development Engineer

Develop the next generation of renewable heating technology

    Location

Lytham St Annes - office based

    Package

Excellent remuneration package, dependent on experience, plus company pension and long-term career opportunities

    The Opportunity

A growing British engineering company developing renewable heating technology for UK and international markets. As the business continues to invest in product innovation, testing and certification, we are seeking a Lead Product Development Engineer to help take electro-mechanical products from concept through validation, certification and production.

This is a hands-on product development role offering significant technical ownership. Working closely with senior management and colleagues across the business, you will solve complex engineering challenges, strengthen product documentation and help deliver reliable, compliant and commercially viable products.

Candidates do not need to arrive with every specialist skill listed under the desirable criteria. If you bring the essential experience and attributes, the company is willing to support development and training in areas such as HVAC, regulatory standards, testing and system integration.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Lead electro-mechanical product development activities from concept through testing, certification, introduction and ongoing improvement.

    • Develop practical engineering solutions that improve product performance, reliability, manufacturability and cost effectiveness.

    • Produce, maintain and control technical files, engineering reports, design records and compliance documentation.

    • Plan and support product testing, verification and validation activities, working with external laboratories and certification bodies where required.

    • Design, build and improve mechanical, electrical and performance test arrangements and procedures.

    • Support new product introduction and product lifecycle activities, including supplier engagement and design changes.

    • Work collaboratively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, balancing engineering priorities, commercial needs and delivery deadlines.

    Essential Skills and Attributes:

To be considered, you will need to demonstrate all of the following:

    • Proven electro-mechanical product development experience gained within a machine builder, HVAC or capital equipment environment.

    • Experience producing and maintaining technical files and documentation for regulatory compliance and product certification.

    • Strong engineering problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.

    • Clear and effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

    • The ability to work office based in Lytham St Annes and commute reliably to the site.

    Desirable Skills and Attributes:

Experience in one or more of the following areas would provide a strong foundation, although training and development can be provided:

    • HVAC, heat pump, refrigeration or energy systems.

    • CE marking, the Pressure Equipment Directive and relevant product safety and performance standards.

    • Product testing, validation, certification and compliance activities.

    • Electrical controls, sensors and system integration.

    • Working with suppliers and supporting new product introduction and product lifecycle activities.

    About You:

You are a practical, curious engineer who enjoys developing products and taking ownership of technical challenges. You can work independently when needed, communicate confidently across a business and turn engineering requirements into robust, workable solutions. You are commercially aware, organised and motivated by seeing ideas progress into successful products.

    What We Offer:

    • An excellent remuneration package, dependent on experience.

    • Company pension and long-term career progression.

    • A high-ownership role with the opportunity to influence product and engineering decisions.

    • Training and development in relevant specialist areas where required.

    • The opportunity to help shape the engineering capability of a growing renewable technology business.

    Apply:

If you have the essential electro-mechanical product development and technical documentation experience and would like to play a leading role in bringing renewable heating products to market, we would be pleased to hear from you
