How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Contract: Permanent

An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Deputy Manager to join a supported living service in Braintree, Essex.

This is a hands-on management role for someone who is confident supporting a team, working alongside a Service Manager and contributing to the safe and effective running of a busy supported living environment.

    The role

As Deputy Manager, you will work closely with the Service Manager to oversee the day-to-day operation of the service and deputise in their absence.

You will provide guidance and supervision to the support team, help maintain high standards of care and ensure that individuals receive person-centred support that reflects their needs, wishes and goals.

The role will include involvement in support planning, risk management, safeguarding, staff supervision, rotas, inductions and ongoing staff development. You will also work closely with external professionals and agencies involved in supporting individuals.

There will be an expectation to participate in an on-call rota as part of the wider service.

You will need to be organised, approachable and able to motivate and support a team in a challenging environment. Strong communication skills are essential, along with the ability to build effective relationships with colleagues, families and external professionals.

Experience of staff supervision, service management, safeguarding, risk assessment and working alongside multi-disciplinary teams would be highly beneficial.

An NVQ Level 3 in Management or an equivalent qualification would be desirable.

    Key responsibilities

Supporting the Service Manager with the daily running of the service.

Deputising for the Service Manager when required.

Providing supervision, guidance and support to staff.

Supporting effective staff rotas, inductions, training and team meetings.

Contributing to support plans, reviews and risk assessments.

Promoting independence, recovery and positive outcomes for the people using the service.

Identifying and responding appropriately to safeguarding and high-risk situations.

Maintaining accurate records and ensuring required reports are completed.

Working with external professionals and agencies to ensure effective support.

Helping maintain appropriate health and safety, accommodation and service standards.

Supporting referrals, assessments and other service management processes.

    Participating in the on-call rota.

    What is offered

    Salary of £35,300 per annum.

37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm.

27 days annual leave plus statutory bank holidays.
