How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

As an Embedded Software Engineer, you'll work at the heart of cutting-edge technology, developing software that directly controls hardware, powers critical systems, and enables innovative products to operate safely, reliably, and efficiently.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to projects that have a tangible real-world impact, from mission-critical systems and industrial automation through to smart devices, communications platforms, and advanced electronic products.

    What You'll Be Doing

Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded software solutions for complex hardware platforms
Develop low-level software and firmware for embedded systems and microprocessor-based products
Collaborate with Electronics Engineers, Systems Engineers, Software Engineers, and Project Teams throughout the development lifecycle
Integrate software with sensors, electronic control systems, communication interfaces, and hardware architectures
Debug, analyse, and optimise performance-critical systems
Support system integration, verification, validation, and testing activities
Contribute to technical design reviews and software architecture decisions
Diagnose and resolve complex hardware and software integration challenges
Ensure software meets reliability, performance, safety, and security requirements
Support product development from concept and design through to deployment and ongoing improvement

    Skills & Experience

We're interested in professionals who can demonstrate experience in some of the following areas:

Commercial experience developing Embedded Software or Firmware solutions
    Strong programming skills in C and/or C++
Experience developing for Embedded Linux environments
Knowledge of Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS)
Experience working with ARM-based processors and microcontrollers
Hardware integration and low-level software development experience
Understanding of serial communication protocols such as UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, Ethernet, or USB
Experience with debugging tools, test equipment, and performance optimisation techniques
Familiarity with software development lifecycles within regulated or engineering-led environments
Experience using Git and version control systems
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills

    Why Consider This Opportunity?

    You'll have the opportunity to:

✅ Work on innovative products and advanced technologies

✅ See the direct physical impact of the software you develop

✅ Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams

✅ Contribute to products used in real-world and mission-critical environments

✅ Develop expertise across hardware, firmware, and software disciplines

✅ Build a rewarding career within high-growth engineering and technology sectors

    Ready for Your Next Challenge?

Whether you're looking to expand your embedded software expertise, work on technically complex projects, or join organisations developing market-leading products and systems, we'd like to hear from you.

At Blue Arrow we partner with with organisations across engineering, technology, manufacturing, defence, aerospace, telecommunications, and advanced product development, helping talented engineers find opportunities where they can innovate, grow, and make a meaningful impact.
