How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Salary: Competitive salary plus Veolia benefits

    Hours: 4 on 4 off 12 hour shift pattern of 2 days and 2 nights, 7 rotations of these followed by 18 days scheduled holiday. Training on days for 4 weeks

    Role Summary

    The OPC Service Desk Engineer provides critical 24/7 remote monitoring, technical control, and front-line support across our national Combined Heat and Power (CHP) fleet. In this role, you will act as the primary technical point of contact-diagnosing faults remotely, adjusting operational parameters, coordinating with field engineers, and ensuring high-quality communication with customers.

    Key Responsibilities

    Remote Monitoring & Control: Investigate plant faults, perform system resets, adjust operational parameters, and manage fault escalation.

    Engineer & Customer Support: Professional handling of 24/7 inbound calls from field engineers and customers to ensure rapid issue resolution.

    Reporting & Data Analysis: Produce accurate KPI, performance, and availability reports for management and customers.

    Shift Operations: Work effectively as part of a 24/7 rotating shift team, maintaining seamless shift handovers and clear task tracking.

    Adhering to written procedures when carrying out tasks

    Qualifications & Essential Skills

    Previous experience in a similar role is beneficial

    Education: HNC standard (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline, preferably with exposure to power generation.

    Digital & IT Tools: Proficient in both Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Workspace) and Microsoft Excel. Experience with Microsoft Access and Power BI would be beneficial.

    Technical Knowledge: Electrical and/or mechanical understanding, ideally in relation to power generation.

    Core Competencies: Strong analytical abilities, problem-solving skills, and clear verbal and written communication.
