How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Umbrella Payroll Associate – Join a Growing, Fast-Paced Payroll Team

Ferndown, Dorset | Competitive Salary DOE
    Monday–Friday, 9:00am–5:15pm | Full-time, Permanent
Part-time considered for candidates with relevant experience

If you know umbrella payroll, you’ll know that accuracy, deadlines and great communication all matter.

We’re recruiting for an established and growing business in Ferndown looking for an experienced Payroll Associate to join its busy payroll team.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of high-volume umbrella payroll processing while working closely with clients, contractors and colleagues. You’ll be joining a supportive team where your experience will be valued and where you can genuinely contribute to how the payroll service continues to develop.

    The Role

You’ll be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of umbrella payrolls, alongside pension administration, onboarding, expenses and associated payroll tasks.

    Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

Processing three umbrella payrolls each day, ensuring accuracy and deadlines are consistently achieved.
Completing RTI submissions and statutory payroll requirements.
    Managing pension auto-enrolment administration.
Liaising directly with clients to obtain, verify and update payroll information.
Updating umbrella payroll margins in accordance with client agreements.
Raising invoices and accurately processing expense claims.
Onboarding new starters and ensuring payroll records are correctly established.
    Processing leavers and producing P45s.
Maintaining accurate records and controls across payroll systems.
Responding to payroll and pension queries professionally and efficiently.
Supporting colleagues and sharing your payroll knowledge across the team.

    What We’re Looking For

Ideally, you’ll already understand the umbrella payroll environment and be comfortable working in a busy, deadline-driven setting.

We’re particularly interested in candidates with:

Around two years or more of umbrella payroll experience.
Strong knowledge of payroll processes and associated compliance.
Experience working with high-volume or multiple payrolls.
Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
Strong client and customer service skills.
Confidence communicating with clients and colleagues.
    Good Microsoft Office skills.
A proactive, organised and self-motivated approach.
The ability to remain calm and accurate when working to tight deadlines.
Experience using My Digital Accounts (MDA) would be particularly useful, although this isn't essential.

Most importantly, you’ll be someone who takes ownership of their work, enjoys being part of a team and takes pride in delivering an excellent service.

    What’s On Offer?

Alongside the opportunity to join a growing and supportive business, you'll receive a strong benefits package including:

25 days' holiday from day one, plus the option to buy and sell holiday.
    Duvet days.
    Company pension scheme.
    Discounted gym membership.
    Monthly free-lunch Fridays.
Regular social activities and office events.
    Company parties twice a year.
Access to financial advice covering areas such as pensions, mortgages and investments.
    Employee referral programme.

    Interested?

If you already work within umbrella payroll and are looking for a new opportunity where you can take ownership, build strong client relationships and be part of a busy and growing team, we’d love to hear from you.
