How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Curriculum Leader – Mechanical

Join Yeovil College as Curriculum Leader for Plumbing and Gas and take the lead in shaping an ambitious, high-quality Mechanical Trades curriculum. Based in our brand-new, industry-leading workshops and teaching spaces, you’ll have the opportunity to make a real impact on both our learners and the team you lead.

    As the Curriculum Leader, you’ll provide operational leadership across the Mechanical Trades curriculum, taking responsibility for learner outcomes, curriculum delivery, quality and compliance. You’ll lead and support a team of staff, setting high standards for teaching, learning and assessment while ensuring learners receive a consistent, engaging and supportive experience. You’ll monitor attendance, retention, achievement and progression, drive quality improvement and ensure programmes meet awarding body and regulatory requirements. You’ll also play an important role in growing and developing the curriculum, using data, industry insight and employer intelligence to inform decision-making, support recruitment and strengthen progression opportunities. This is a hands-on leadership role, giving you the opportunity to take your career to the next level, develop your leadership experience and help shape the next generation of skilled construction professionals.     What we're looking for:

    * Proven leadership experience, ideally within curriculum, vocational or apprenticeship provision, with the confidence to lead and inspire a diverse team.

    * Strong industry expertise in Construction or Building Services, with recent relevant experience and knowledge of current vocational and apprenticeship developments.

    * A learner-first mindset, with a passion for outstanding teaching, learning and student outcomes.

    * Commercial and analytical thinking, with the ability to use data, manage resources and drive continuous improvement.

    * Excellent communication and influence, with the resilience and problem-solving skills to make things happen in a busy environment.

    * Relevant qualifications, including a Level 3 Construction/Building Services qualification and Level 5 teaching qualification, plus Level 2 English and Maths (or willingness to achieve).
