How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Technical Support Engineer
    Stafford (Nationwide travel througout the contract)
    Inside IR35
    Are you an Electrical Engineer with experience in Substation Automation Systems, Protection & Control, or Grid Automation?

    We're looking for a Technical Support Engineer to join a leading engineering team supporting critical power and automation projects across the UK.

    This is an exciting opportunity to combine your technical expertise with customer-facing problem-solving, working on cutting-edge protection and control systems within the energy sector.
    What You'll Be Doing
    Providing technical support and resolving complex customer application enquiries
    Supporting commercial and sales teams with technically robust solutions and proposals 
    Assisting project delivery teams during FAT, SAT and commissioning activities
    Investigating faults, troubleshooting technical issues, and managing customer complaints
    Conducting customer site surveys and delivering technical training
    Supporting Protection & Control system engineering activities
    Keeping up to date with the latest products, technologies, and industry standards

    What We're Looking For
    Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
    4+ years' experience in a project, service, commissioning, or support environment
    Hands-on experience with Substation Automation Systems
    Strong understanding of Protection & Control systems and testing practices
    Ability to produce technical reports and communicate effectively with customers
    Willingness to travel across the UK and internationally when required

    Highly Desirable
    Knowledge of protection relays and Substation Automation solutions
    Experience within transmission, distribution, power generation, or industrial environments
    Strong fault-finding, root cause analysis, and problem-solving capability
