How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Location: Wickford, Essex (SS11 8YB)
    Salary: £14.00 - £16.00 per hour
    Contract: Full Time, Permanent
    Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 4:00pm

    As part of our continued success, we are looking for a reliable and organised Accounts Assistant / Office Support Assistant to join our team in Wickford.
    This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a varied role, supporting both the finance and wider office functions within a busy engineering environment.
    Working closely with our Directors and external Accountant, you'll play an important role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the business while developing your skills within a supportive and experienced team.
    The Role
    This is a varied position combining accounts administration, payroll support and general office duties.
    You will be responsible for maintaining accurate records, supporting financial processes and assisting with administrative tasks across the business.
    No previous import/export experience is required as full training will be provided.
    As our Accounts Assistant / Office Support Administrator you will be responsible for:
    * Processing and accurately coding purchase invoices.
    * Reconciling supplier statements and resolving discrepancies.
    * Liaising with suppliers and responding to account queries.
    * Managing the purchase ledger inbox and ensuring prompt responses.
    * Processing employee expenses and company credit card reconciliations.
    * Raising purchase orders for office stationery and non-stock items.
    * Maintaining import and export registers in line with HM Revenue & Customs requirements.
    * Ensuring records are accurate and up to date.
    * Gathering and preparing weekly payroll information, including overtime and working hours.
    * Maintaining holiday and sickness records.
    * Communicating with employees regarding payroll-related matters.
    * Answering incoming telephone calls when required.
    * Providing administrative support to Directors and other departments.
    * Assisting with general office duties and ad hoc administration tasks.
    What We're Looking For
    We are seeking someone with strong organisational skills, attention to detail and a positive, proactive attitude.
    In order to be successful in this role you must have:
    * Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
    * Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
    * Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
    * Good organisational and time-management skills.
    * Ability to work independently after training.
    * GCSEs (including Maths and English) or equivalent.
    It would be great if you had:
    * Previous experience in an accounts, finance or office administration role.
    * Purchase ledger experience.
    * Experience supporting payroll administration.
    * AAT Level 2 or Level 3 qualification, or currently studying towards one.
    * Knowledge of Sage 200.
