How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    The Company

My client is a leading global manufacturer of VFFS and HFFS packaging machinery, with a strong reputation for engineering excellence and a growing presence worldwide.

With over 60 employees across the UK, the business continues to perform strongly and is now expanding its Service Engineering team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Electrical Service Engineer / Multi-Skilled Engineer to join an established and forward-thinking organisation, with excellent earning potential and the opportunity to work on high-value capital equipment.

    The Role

As a Service Engineer, you will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, servicing and breakdown support of specialist packaging machinery at customer sites.

The role is electrically biased, although a strong understanding of mechanical systems is essential.

    Key Responsibilities

Installation and commissioning of new machinery
    Planned servicing and maintenance
    Breakdown diagnosis and repair
    Electrical fault finding and diagnostics
    Reading and interpreting electrical drawings
    PLC and control system diagnostics
    Software updates and system modifications
I/O card replacement and fault diagnosis
HMI diagnostics, including inputs and outputs
    Mechanical fault finding and repairs
Working with conveyors and associated material-handling equipment
Supporting customers within FMCG, food, packaging and manufacturing environments
Providing a professional and proactive service at customer sites
    Achieving first-time fixes wherever possible
Working closely with the wider engineering and technical teams
Typically, you will attend one service visit per day, giving you the opportunity to properly diagnose and resolve issues rather than rushing between multiple sites.

The role will involve working in wet and cold food-production environments, so candidates should be comfortable working within these conditions.

    The Ideal Engineer

We are looking for a technically strong and proactive engineer who enjoys fault finding and working directly with customers.

    You should have:

An Electrical Engineering / Maintenance / Service Engineering background
    Strong electrical fault-finding experience
Good mechanical diagnostic and repair skills
    Experience working with capital equipment
Experience within FMCG, food, packaging, material handling or conveyor-based machinery
The ability to read and understand electrical drawings
Experience with HMIs, I/O and control systems
Experience with machinery commissioning, installation or servicing
A proactive approach to troubleshooting and problem solving
    Strong communication and customer-facing skills
The ability to work independently while being part of a wider engineering team
    Qualifications

Ideally, you will hold a City & Guilds, NVQ or equivalent engineering qualification across electrical. An apprenticeship would also be a real benefit

    Interested?

If you're an experienced Electrical Service Engineer, Maintenance Engineer or Multi-Skilled Engineer looking for a technically challenging role with strong earning potential and limited overnight travel, this could be an excellent opportunity.
