The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and progressing disrepair cases from initial inspection through to resolution, ensuring properties are appropriately assessed and that any necessary remedial works are identified, specified and delivered within agreed timescales.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced surveyor with a background in social housing, local authority or residential property, who has a strong understanding of disrepair and the associated legal and technical requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage a caseload of disrepair cases from initial instruction through to completion.
* Undertake detailed property inspections to identify defects, causes of disrepair and required remedial works.
* Prepare specifications, schedules of work, reports and cost estimates as required.
* Ensure disrepair cases are progressed in line with relevant legislation, legal requirements, policies and agreed timescales.
* Liaise with residents, legal representatives, contractors, consultants and internal teams to ensure cases are effectively managed and resolved.
* Procure, instruct and manage contractors and consultants to deliver works within agreed budgets, timescales and quality standards.
* Monitor the progress and quality of remedial works through to completion.
* Provide technical advice and guidance on building defects, construction methods and appropriate repair solutions.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of inspections, works, costs, correspondence and case progression.
* Use digital systems and software to track and manage key case information and provide accurate reporting.
* Support the effective management of complaints and customer enquiries relating to disrepair cases.
* Ensure a high level of customer service is maintained throughout the disrepair process.
* Work collaboratively with internal teams to identify recurring issues and support improvements to property condition and service delivery.
About You
We are looking for a motivated and experienced Disrepair Surveyor who can demonstrate:
* Experience in a similar surveying role, ideally within a Social Housing or Local Authority environment.
* Proven experience of managing housing disrepair cases from inspection through to resolution.
* HNC or HND qualification in a relevant surveying, construction, building or property-related discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
* A good understanding of disrepair legislation, legal requirements and the responsibilities of landlords and tenants.
