How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Commercial Solar Operations Manager – Overview

    We are working with a successful and established Solar company in the North West who are continuing to expand their commercial solar division. The commercial division is the youngest area of the business and they need someone who can not only lead the division, but help to grow and shape it into a repeatable operating model, implementing the systems and processes to make it a success.

    They are looking for an Operations Manager with a strong electrical background who can take projects from the point of sales handover through to completion. Each project will go through feasibility, survey, design coordination, costing, mobilisation, installation and customer handover and you will be at the forefront to make it possible.

    This is not a sales role. They already have an established sales division with over 15 people and they will continue to own lead generation, negotiation and close. You will own whether the proposed work is technically and operationally deliverable, how it will be delivered, what it will cost and then take the projects through to completion.

    What you will be responsible for

    * Build a repeatable operating model that takes qualified sales from through to commissioning and customer handover.

    * Create standard product options, project scopes, exclusions, survey requirements, stage gates and approval routes.

    * Lead or coordinate feasibility reviews and surveys, covering roof and structural suitability, electrical infrastructure, DNO requirements, access, planning, fire and H&S considerations.

    * Translate survey and design information into clear scopes, bills of materials, programmes, cost assumptions, RAMS requirements and installer instructions.

    * Build and maintain accurate project cost inputs, including labour, access, scaffolding, civils, logistics, specialist design, contingency and risk.

    * Validate that proposals can be delivered as sold and challenge or stop work that is unsafe, non-compliant or commercially unsound.

    * Own project mobilisation and delivery after internal handover, including programme, readiness, customer communication, risk, cost, variation control, quality and completion.

    * Identify and manage suitable commercial installation partners, suppliers and specialist contractors.

    The role is based on 35 hours per week Monday-Friday and offers a hybrid work pattern split between home, office and customer sites. The company are going through an extensive growth phase and they want you to be central to that, growing and progressing as the company does.

    Commercial Solar Operations Manager – Requirements

    * Strong experience delivering commercial solar PV, battery storage or closely related distributed-energy projects.

    * Electrical Background

    * Experience taking projects from feasibility through to delivery

    * A practical understanding of project costing, procurement, variations, budget control, risk and margin protection.

    * Experience selecting and managing installation partners, subcontractors, suppliers and specialist consultants.

    * The ability to read and challenge electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, specifications, bills of materials, programmes and RAMS.

    Commercial Solar Operations Manager – Salary & Remuneration

    * Salary circa £60,000+ (OTE £85,000+)

    * Bonuses - A first-90-day milestone bonus of up to £3,000. Thereafter, a performance bonus of up to £2,000 per month, measured monthly and paid quarterly against an agreed scorecard.

    * Business Mileage/ Company Vehicle options

    * 25 Days Holiday + Bank Holidays

    * Hybrid Working

    * Private Healthcare

    * Sick Pay

    * Pension (NEST)
