How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Electrical Estimator / Contracts Manager

    Location: Swindon, Wiltshire
    Salary: £45,000+ per annum, negotiable depending on experience
    Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

    An established Mechanical & Electrical Services Contractor is looking for an experienced Electrical Estimator / Contracts Manager to join its growing team in Swindon.

    Working across the South West, the business delivers projects across the commercial, industrial, government, healthcare, local authority and education sectors.

    Reporting to the Senior Manager, you will be responsible for the electrical element of tenders, working closely with Mechanical Estimators to prepare complete M&E quotations. You will be involved throughout the tender process, from reviewing requirements and sourcing costs through to final submission, pre-order meetings and contract handover.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Prepare, price and submit electrical tenders to required deadlines

    * Review tender documentation and raise RFIs where clarification is required

    * Liaise with clients, consultants and design teams

    * Obtain and assess subcontractor and specialist subcontractor quotations

    * Price procurement requirements and identify long-lead items

    * Measure works and produce itemised Bills of Quantities

    * Finalise tender submissions and attend pre-order meetings

    * Support contract awards and handover of successful packages

    * Liaise with clients regarding electrical project variations

    * Maintain accurate estimating records using company software and Microsoft Office

    About You

    The ideal candidate will have proven experience as an Electrical Estimator, preferably within a similar-sized or larger organisation.

    You should have:

    * Commercial and/or industrial electrical estimating experience

    * Ability to interpret electrical and mechanical drawings and project specifications

    * Strong attention to detail and ability to work with minimal supervision

    * Good organisation skills and ability to meet deadlines

    * A full UK driving licence

    CSCS is advantageous.
    DBS is advantageous and can be applied for.

    Ideally, you will be a time-served electrician who has progressed into estimating, with previous commercial and industrial experience.
