How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Lead Engineer – Building Services

    Location: Bristol
    Salary: £42,000 + Company Van + Overtime + Call-Out
    Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00–17:00

Alice Rose Recruitment is currently recruiting for an experienced Lead Engineer to join a well-established facilities management contract covering a portfolio of education sites across Bristol.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Building Services or Maintenance Engineer who is looking to take their first step into management while remaining technically hands-on.

The successful candidate will primarily be based at one site in Bristol, while also providing engineering support and cover across three additional sites when required. You will work closely with the Engineering Supervisor, taking responsibility for planned and reactive maintenance while also providing technical support and guidance to the wider engineering team.

    Key Responsibilities

    *

Carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance across the site

    *

Maintain electrical, mechanical and HVAC plant and systems

    *

Complete regular plant room inspections and identify potential faults

    *

Fault-find and carry out remedial works

    *

Ensure PPMs and reactive tasks are completed within agreed SLAs

    *

Maintain accurate CAFM and site records

    *

Support the Engineering Supervisor with the day-to-day running of the contract

    *

Deputise for the Engineering Supervisor when required

    *

Assist with compliance across areas including L8, fire safety, electrical systems and asset management

    *

Ensure engineering documentation, logbooks and records remain up to date

    *

Liaise professionally with clients, site staff and building users

    *

Support and guide other engineers within the team

    *

Ensure all work is completed in accordance with health & safety procedures

    Candidate Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a strong background within commercial building services or facilities management maintenance.

An electrical bias would be advantageous, although mechanically biased engineers with the right building services experience and willingness to develop will also be considered.

    Candidates should ideally have:

    *

Previous experience within building services or FM maintenance

    *

Experience completing PPM and reactive maintenance

    *

Knowledge of electrical and mechanical building services

    *

    Good fault-finding ability

    *

Strong computer literacy and experience updating maintenance records

    *

Ability to organise and prioritise a demanding workload

    *

    Good communication skills

    *

Knowledge of health & safety and building compliance

    *

Previous experience with CAFM systems would be advantageous

    *

Electrical qualifications such as Level 3 and 18th Edition would be beneficial

Previous supervisory experience is not essential. This role would suit a strong Maintenance Engineer, Building Services Engineer or Senior Engineer who is ready to progress into a position with greater responsibility.
