Freight Operations Manager

Job Description:

Manage daily operations of Freight Operations for assigned accounts.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

* Manage the import, export, billing and customs processes and procedures for assigned Freight Operations accounts.

* Be responsible for day-to-day decision-making and ensure escalations are addressed promptly.

* Coordinate with agents, carriers, vendors, overseas offices, COE and customers to ensure smooth transactions.

* Ensure customer satisfaction is maintained across all levels of operations.

* Ensure that financial management, billing, and invoicing are carried out in a timely manner

* Support productivity enhancements within Freight Operations.

* Actively engage in freight system digitalisation initiatives across the network.

* Support corporate initiatives for Freight Solutions.

* Support the selection of carriers and agents and negotiate rates and pricing.

* Support commercial activities by providing freight solutions for target customers and assisting local sales efforts through joint customer calls, bids and proposal preparation.

* Participate in project bids and execution

* Monitor KPIs and ensure timely generation of reports for management review

* Ensure company policies and procedures, confidentiality requirements, and legal and ethical guidelines, such as the Delegation of Authority, are clearly communicated and adhered to.

* Coach and guide junior team members to ensure development and succession planning

Observe and abide by the TSS-QIMM-01.6 Roles, Responsibilities and Authorities outlined in the QIM Manual.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:

* Degree or equivalent professional qualification/experience in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Freight Forwarding or a related field.

* Significant experience in freight forwarding operations, preferably in a management role, typically gained through 10+ years’ relevant freight forwarding or equivalent experience.

* Established working relationships with customers, airlines, shipping lines and agents.

* Strong knowledge of cargo service pricing and freight operations.

* Ensure operations comply with applicable UK customs, trade compliance, health and safety, data protection, company policies, and ethical standards.

* Working knowledge of financial reporting.

* Strong customer management skills.

* Good knowledge of freight management systems, including CargoWise, local customs and trade portals.

* Strong teamwork skills.

* Strong communication skills.

* Strong decision-making skills.

* Strong people management and development skills.

* Strong service orientation.

* Strong change management skills.
