How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Buyer to join a global manufacturing business with multiple sites across the UK. Based in High Wycombe, this role offers a salary of up to £35,000 along with the flexibility to work from home two days per week.

    The Buyer will play an important role in supporting an efficient, resilient and commercially effective purchasing function across the Group.

    This is a varied role covering day-to-day purchasing, supplier management, inventory control and ERP/MRP development, with the opportunity to contribute to wider sourcing, cost reduction and continuous improvement initiatives.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Managing day-to-day purchasing activities across the business
    Processing purchase requisitions, purchase orders, and supplier acknowledgements, as well as expediting outstanding orders
    Monitoring supplier performance and resolving any supply or delivery issues
    Maintaining appropriate inventory levels while working to reduce excess and obsolete stock
    Supporting the maintenance and development of ERP/MRP systems, including supplier data, lead times, minimum order quantities (MOQ) and planning parameters
    Supporting sourcing activities, cost reduction initiatives, and supplier negotiations
    Working closely with Production, Engineering, Sales, Finance and Warehouse teams to ensure purchasing requirements are effectively managedSkills & Experience Required:

    Previous purchasing experience within a manufacturing and/or engineering environment
    Strong knowledge and experience of ERP/MRP systems
    Experience managing supplier relationships and negotiating with suppliers
    Strong analytical skills and a good level of Excel proficiency
