How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Fire Safety Surveyor – Active Fire Systems

Location: Mobile role covering Peterborough, London, Chichester, Brighton and surrounding areas

    Up to £50,000

Successful candidate will undergo a basic DBS check

Hyde is looking for a Fire Safety Surveyor to support active fire safety works across our homes and communal buildings. This is a great opportunity to move into a client-side role where your technical knowledge will help improve safety, compliance, service quality and contractor performance for our customers.

    About the Role

You will survey properties, prepare clear work specifications, review remedial works, oversee contractors and provide technical advice on active fire safety systems.

    Key Duties

Check that active fire safety works, including fire risk assessment actions, repairs, cyclical and planned maintenance, meet legal, safety and quality standards.

Complete property surveys and prepare specifications, schedules, reports, drawings, tender documents and cost estimates.

Manage contractors and monitor performance against agreed service levels, quality standards and budgets.

Identify risks, defects, unsafe working practices and recurring issues, then recommend clear and practical solutions.

Work with customers, contractors, colleagues and external partners to resolve fire-related repairs, emergency issues and compliance concerns.

    Why Join Hyde?

This is a chance to use your fire safety knowledge to help keep customers safe in their homes. You will have the opportunity to shape how active fire safety works are planned and delivered across a varied property portfolio. You will also work in a client-side role, where you can influence specifications, improve contractor performance and support long-term investment in safer homes and communities. Hyde also offers learning and career development support to help you build your technical career.

    What We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who can bring experience as a Fire Safety Surveyor, Fire Surveyor, Fire Alarm Engineer, Fire Safety Engineer, Fire Risk Assessor, Fire Compliance Officer or Building Safety Surveyor.

Experience working with active fire safety systems, fire risk assessment actions, fire alarms, emergency lighting or similar compliance works.

Good knowledge of fire safety legislation, building regulations, Approved Document B and relevant guidance.

The ability to explain technical issues clearly to customers, contractors and colleagues.

A practical approach to solving problems, managing risk and making sound recommendations.

A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the role’s mobile patch.

This is a mobile role, so regular travel will be required across the patch. Details of any car allowance, mileage, company vehicle or travel expenses can be discussed during the recruitment process.

    Life assurance

    Flexible benefits platform
