How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Energy Consultant

    A leading engineering and sustainability consultancy is looking to appoint an Energy Consultant to join its growing Sustainability & Building Performance team.

    With a strong reputation for delivering innovative, low-carbon solutions across the built environment, the business works on a diverse range of projects spanning commercial, residential, healthcare, education, science and technology sectors. Sustainability and building performance sit at the heart of its approach, with continued investment in developing industry-leading expertise across energy modelling, Net Zero Carbon and building optimisation.

    This is an excellent opportunity for someone with 1-2 years' experience to develop their technical skills, work on a variety of interesting projects and build their career within a highly respected sustainability consultancy.

    The Opportunity

    As an Energy Consultant, you'll support the delivery of building performance analysis and energy modelling across a range of development projects. Working alongside experienced sustainability consultants, engineers and design teams, you'll gain exposure to projects from the early design stages through to completion.

    The role is particularly suited to someone with hands-on experience using IES VE who is looking to further develop their expertise across energy modelling, building performance and sustainable design.

    Key Responsibilities

    Undertake energy modelling and building performance analysis using IES VE.
    Develop and maintain dynamic thermal models to support design decisions.
    Assist with overheating and thermal comfort assessments.
    Support compliance modelling and regulatory assessments.
    Analyse modelling results and help identify opportunities to improve building performance.
    Assist with energy efficiency, low-carbon design and building optimisation strategies.
    Work alongside architects, engineers and sustainability consultants throughout the design process.
    Contribute to energy and sustainability assessments across a range of building types.
    Prepare clear technical outputs and assist with presenting findings to project teams and clients.
    Continue developing technical knowledge across building performance and energy modelling.About You

    The ideal candidate will have around 1-2 years' experience in energy modelling, building performance, sustainability consultancy or a related building services/engineering environment.

    Hands-on IES VE experience is essential for this position. Candidates should be comfortable using the software for energy modelling and have a genuine interest in developing a career within building performance and sustainability.

    Experience in some of the following areas would be beneficial:

    IES VE / dynamic thermal modelling
    Overheating and thermal comfort assessments
    Building fabric performance and heat loss
    Energy efficiency and low-carbon design
    Compliance modelling and energy regulations
    Passive design principles
    Building services and energy optimisationThe role would suit someone who is technically minded, keen to learn and enjoys working as part of a wider project team.
