How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Trainee Credit Controller

    Location: Near Woking, Surrey

    Salary: £26,000 per annum

    Hours: Full-time, permanent

    Job Type: Permanent, on-site

    Syntech Recruitment are supporting a well-established engineering and manufacturing business near Woking in their search for a Trainee Credit Controller to join their finance team.

    This is an excellent opportunity for someone at the beginning of their career who has a genuine interest in finance and wants to build a long-term career within the profession.

    You don't need previous Credit Control experience. We're equally interested in candidates who have demonstrated their interest in finance through education, qualifications or their longer-term career plans. You might have studied Accounting, Finance, Business or a related subject, started an AAT qualification, or simply be looking for the right opportunity to begin a professional career in finance.

    Full training will be provided across Credit Control, Accounts Receivable, finance systems and processes.

    Responsibilities

    Contact customers by phone and email to chase outstanding payments

    Build relationships with customers while ensuring payments are received on time

    Speak professionally with customers and contacts at different levels, including directors

    Maintain accurate customer records and account notes

    Update information using finance and ERP systems

    Assist with allocating incoming payments to customer accounts

    Help resolve invoice and payment queries

    Monitor outstanding invoices and payment due dates

    Provide general finance administration support to the wider team

    Ensure financial records are accurate and internal processes are followed

    Skills & Experience

    A genuine interest in developing a long-term career within finance

    An educational background in Finance, Accounting, Business or a related subject would be advantageous

    Interest in studying towards AAT or another recognised finance qualification would be welcomed

    Confident telephone manner and comfortable speaking with customers

    Willingness to pick up the phone and professionally chase outstanding payments

    Strong verbal and written communication skills

    Good attention to detail and comfortable working with numbers

    Organised, reliable and keen to learn

    Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook

    Full UK driving licence required

    Previous finance or Credit Control experience is not required. However, candidates should be able to demonstrate a clear interest in finance, either through their education, existing experience or their intention to pursue finance as a long-term career.

    Previous experience within customer service, administration, call handling or another telephone-based position would also be beneficial.

    Who Would This Role Suit?

    This opportunity would be particularly well suited to a school or college leaver, finance/business graduate, AAT student or junior professional looking to establish themselves within finance.

    It could also suit someone currently working within customer service or administration who has decided they want to move into finance and develop their career in that direction long term.

    We're not looking for someone who already knows everything about Credit Control. We're looking for someone with the right attitude, confidence and genuine motivation to develop within finance who can be trained by an experienced team.
