How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Gas Engineer, £45,000 + DOE, Redhill, Surrey, 8am-4pm, Permanent, 20 Days Holiday + Bank Holidays, Company Van, Fuel Card, Overtime, Pension

    The Role

An excellent opportunity for a Gas Engineer to join a growing heating and building services business specialising in commercial heating systems across schools, hospitals, public buildings and commercial premises throughout Sussex and the South East. This Gas Engineer role will work closely with the business owner and an experienced Commercial Gas Engineer within a small, highly trusted team. The successful Gas Engineer will enjoy a varied workload including servicing, maintenance, reactive repairs and planned works, whilst benefiting from ongoing support and development opportunities.

Servicing, maintaining and repairing domestic and commercial gas appliances and heating systems
Carrying out boiler servicing, gas safety inspections and compliance checks
Undertaking fault finding, diagnostics and repairs
Responding to reactive callouts including leaks, heating failures and equipment breakdowns
    Completing planned preventative maintenance visits
Supporting installation and upgrade projects across commercial sites
Working within schools, hospitals, public buildings and commercial premises
Building strong relationships with clients, facilities managers and site contacts
Completing service reports and compliance documentation accurately
Ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with Gas Safe and Health & Safety regulations

    Requirements

A current Gas Safe registration is highly desirable, whilst commercial gas qualifications and ACS commercial elements would be advantageous but are not essential. Applications are welcomed from Gas Engineers with either domestic or commercial experience, and a plumbing and heating background would be highly desirable. Experience working within schools, public buildings, facilities management or building services environments would also be beneficial.

Due to the nature of the client base, the successful Gas Engineer will be required to undergo an Enhanced DBS check. Existing Enhanced DBS clearance would be advantageous, although this can be arranged and funded by the company where required.

Additional commercial qualifications can be supported for the right individual, making this an excellent opportunity for either an experienced Commercial Gas Engineer or a Domestic Gas Engineer looking to develop commercially. Above all, the successful Gas Engineer will be honest, reliable, customer-focused and able to represent the business professionally.

This role could suit someone who has worked as a Commercial Gas Engineer, Heating Engineer or Plumbing and Heating Engineer or Plumber.
