Senior Health & Safety Manager – Construction

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Health & Safety Manager to join an established construction business based in North London.
This is a senior, permanent position with responsibility for supporting and driving health & safety standards across a portfolio of UK-wide and European construction projects. The successful candidate will be based from North London but must be willing and able to travel regularly to project sites across the UK and Europe.
The Opportunity
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Health & Safety Manager looking to take responsibility across a varied portfolio of major projects while becoming an integral part of a growing construction business which has a view for the candidate to be working towards Health and Safety Director Level.
The Role
As Senior Health & Safety Manager, you will work closely with senior management, project teams and site personnel to ensure consistently high standards of health, safety and compliance across the business.
Key responsibilities will include:
* Leading and promoting a positive health & safety culture across multiple construction projects
* Carrying out regular site inspections, audits and compliance reviews
* Supporting project teams with H&S planning, risk assessments and method statements
* Monitoring compliance with company procedures and relevant legislation
* Investigating incidents, near misses and identifying appropriate corrective actions
* Providing practical H&S advice and guidance to site and senior management teams
* Supporting the development and implementation of company H&S policies and procedures
* Producing reports, identifying trends and presenting recommendations to senior management
* Working collaboratively with clients, contractors and project stakeholders
* Supporting projects throughout the UK and Europe
About You
We are looking for an experienced construction Health & Safety professional who is confident operating at senior level across multiple projects.
You should have:
* Significant Health & Safety experience within the construction industry
* Experience working across large or complex construction projects
* A strong working knowledge of UK construction health & safety legislation
* Relevant professional H&S qualifications
* Strong communication, leadership and influencing skills
* The ability to engage effectively with site teams through to senior management
* A practical, proactive approach to improving site safety
* Excellent reporting, auditing and organisational skills
* A full UK driving licence
* Flexibility to travel extensively throughout the UK and Europe
Experience supporting international or European construction projects would be particularly advantageous.
