How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Maintenance Engineer

    Manufacturing | Glossop
    Monday-Friday | 7:00am-3:30pm | £42,000

    An established manufacturing business based in Glossop is looking for a hands-on Maintenance Engineer to join its engineering team.

    This is a great opportunity for a mechanically strong engineer looking for a Monday-Friday, days-only position, working 7:00am-3:30pm, within a stable manufacturing environment.

    You'll be responsible for keeping production machinery and equipment running reliably, carrying out planned and reactive maintenance, and supporting ongoing improvements across the site.

    Key Responsibilities - Maintenance Engineer

    Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across production machinery

    Diagnosing and repairing mechanical faults

    Fault-finding on electrical systems and components

    Working with motors, pumps, gearboxes, conveyors and pneumatic systems

    Carrying out preventative maintenance to reduce machinery downtime

    Responding to breakdowns and identifying root causes

    Supporting machinery upgrades and continuous improvement projects

    Carrying out fabrication, welding and general workshop maintenance where required

    Working closely with production teams to resolve machinery issues

    Helping improve the reliability and efficiency of site equipment

    Essential Skills & Experience

    Previous experience as a Maintenance Engineer within a manufacturing environment

    Strong mechanical maintenance background

    Experience fault-finding on production machinery

    Good electrical maintenance and fault-finding skills

    Experience with motors, pumps, gearboxes, conveyors and pneumatics

    Practical, hands-on approach to engineering

    Ability to diagnose faults and implement permanent solutions

    Manufacturing, production or process engineering experience
