This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Sub Agent with a strong background in civil engineering and reinforced concrete construction to join an established delivery team on a high-profile project. Whilst previous airfield experience would be advantageous, candidates from highways, rail, aviation, infrastructure and general civil engineering backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
The Role
As Sub Agent, you will be responsible for managing the safe and successful delivery of light civils and concrete works packages, ensuring programme, quality and safety objectives are achieved. You will lead site teams, coordinate subcontractors and oversee engineering assurance processes while working closely with project management, client representatives and delivery stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the day-to-day delivery of works to ensure safety, quality, programme and commercial objectives are achieved.
Lead site teams and coordinate subcontractors, suppliers and specialist contractors.
Review and manage Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), quality documentation and engineering records.
Oversee setting out activities and provide technical support to Site Engineers and delivery teams.
Ensure works are delivered in accordance with drawings, specifications and project requirements.
Monitor progress against programme and implement recovery measures where necessary.
Support short-term planning, sequencing and resource allocation.
Conduct site inspections, briefings and safety engagements.
Liaise effectively with client representatives, stakeholders and the wider project team.
Promote and maintain high standards of health, safety, environmental and quality performance.
Requirements
Essential
Previous experience working as a Sub Agent, Senior Engineer or equivalent on civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
Strong understanding and practical experience of reinforced concrete and light civil engineering works.
Experience managing engineering assurance and quality processes, including Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
Experience managing subcontractors and site delivery teams.
Valid CSCS Card.
SMSTS qualification.
Strong communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable
Previous experience working on airfield or airport projects.
Working knowledge of NEC contracts.
Temporary Works awareness or experience.
Degree, HNC or HND in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
