How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Head of Year - Mainstream Secondary School | Bury

    Aspire People are working in partnership with a multi-academy trust secondary school in Bury who are looking to appoint an experienced non-teaching Head of Year to join their team as soon as possible.

    This is a full-time, long-term position supporting students across the school, with a key focus on behaviour, attendance, pastoral support and student wellbeing.

    The Role
    As Head of Year, you will play an important role in supporting students to achieve their full potential. You will work closely with students, parents/carers, teachers and the wider pastoral team to address behaviour and attendance concerns and provide effective pastoral support.

    Key responsibilities include:
    * Supporting and managing student behaviour across the year group
    * Monitoring and improving student attendance and punctuality
    * Providing pastoral support to students
    * Working with parents/carers and school staff to address concerns
    * Managing behaviour and attendance interventions
    * Building positive relationships with students and supporting their wellbeing
    * Working as part of the wider pastoral and safeguarding team

    The Ideal Candidate
    The school are looking for someone with previous experience working with secondary-aged students, particularly within behaviour, attendance or pastoral support.

    You should have:
    * Previous experience in a behaviour, attendance, pastoral or Head of Year role
    * Strong behaviour management skills
    * Experience supporting students in a mainstream secondary school
    * Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
    * A calm, consistent and supportive approach
    * The ability to work effectively with students, staff and parents/carers
    * A strong understanding of safeguarding and student wellbeing
