How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Carmichael UK are recruiting for an experienced Site Engineer to join a major infrastructure programme at Birmingham Airport, supporting the delivery of key civil engineering works within a live operational environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive and technically competent engineer with strong setting out and quality assurance experience to join an established delivery team on a high-profile project. Whilst previous airfield experience would be advantageous, candidates from highways, rail, infrastructure and general civil engineering backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

    The Role

As Site Engineer, you will be responsible for setting out, quality control and engineering support across a range of light civils and concrete works packages. You will work closely with site management, subcontractors and client representatives to ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required specification.

    Key Responsibilities

Carry out setting out and surveying activities across site works using GPS and Total Station equipment.

Ensure works are delivered in accordance with drawings, specifications and programme requirements.

Prepare, implement and maintain Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).

Undertake quality assurance checks and maintain accurate site records.

Support the delivery of concrete and light civil engineering works packages.

Liaise effectively with subcontractors, site management and client representatives.

Produce and maintain as-built records and associated site documentation.

Promote and maintain high standards of health, safety, environmental and quality performance.

Support the successful achievement of project milestones and programme objectives.

    Requirements

    Essential

Previous experience working as a Site Engineer on civil engineering, infrastructure or construction projects.

Proven setting out experience using Total Stations and GPS equipment.

Strong understanding and practical experience of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).

Experience delivering concrete and light civils works.

Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.

    Valid CSCS Card.

Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

    Desirable

Previous experience working on airfield or airport projects.

Experience operating within live operational environments.

Knowledge of QA procedures, quality documentation and as-built record production.

    Personal Attributes

    Hard-working and reliable.

    Detail-oriented with strong organisational skills.

Safety-conscious and committed to best practice.

    Proactive and solutions-focused.

Able to work collaboratively as part of a delivery team.

    What You'll Be Part Of

This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a major infrastructure project at Birmingham Airport, working within a dynamic and fast-paced environment alongside experienced construction professionals.

If you have the skills, experience and drive to succeed in this role, we'd like to hear from you
