How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Location: Braintree, Essex, CM7 9HB

    Salary: £50,562 to £54,834 per annum

    Job Type: Full time, 1-year fixed term contract

    Programme Manager – Housing and Improvement - The Role:

    You will programme manage the delivery of the Housing Improvement Programme, a transformation initiative driving improvements in service delivery, performance, governance and customer outcomes. Working under the strategic direction of the Head of Housing and Community, you will ensure pace, coordination and delivery across a complex portfolio of activity, influencing and supporting senior leaders and delivery teams to achieve programme objectives and maintain robust governance.

    Programme Manager – Housing and Improvement - Key Responsibilities:

    - Lead and coordinate the delivery of a complex transformation programme comprising multiple interdependent projects and workstreams

    - Establish and maintain effective programme governance arrangements, reporting mechanisms and decision-making processes

    - Manage programme-level risks, issues, dependencies and resource requirements, ensuring appropriate mitigation and escalation

    - Develop and implement benefits realisation plans to ensure measurable and sustainable programme outcomes

    - Drive delivery momentum across multiple workstreams while balancing regulatory requirements, service demand and organisational priorities

    - Influence and coordinate delivery through senior leaders, managers and project teams in a matrix management environment

    - Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to secure commitment and engagement

    - Provide strategic advice and challenge to senior management regarding programme performance and delivery strategies

    Programme Manager – Housing and Improvement - You:

    - Hold a recognised programme or project management qualification such as MSP, PRINCE2 Practitioner or APM PMQ

    - Have significant experience leading or project and programme managing complex transformation, improvement or change programmes

    - Have experience working within local government, housing, public sector or similarly complex environments

    - Demonstrate strong programme leadership skills with the ability to maintain pace and focus on delivery

    - Have highly developed strategic planning, problem-solving and decision-making skills

    - Are resilient, adaptable and able to work effectively within changing organisational and political environments
