How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Electrical Installation Trainer (Teacher Training Provided)

    Wigan

£31,000 - £42,000 + Teachers' Pension + Generous Annual Leave + Healthcare Plan + Full Teacher Training + Excellent Benefits

Are you an experienced Electrician or Electrical Installation professional looking to move into training?

Do you want to step away from full-time site work and into a rewarding role where you can pass on your knowledge, gain teaching qualifications, and help develop the next generation of electricians?

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established Further Education provider within its Electrical Installation provision. You'll join a team focused on giving learners the practical skills, technical knowledge and industry standards they need to progress into apprenticeships and successful careers within the electrical trade.

As an Electrical Installation Trainer, you'll deliver practical and theory-based training across Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 programmes. You'll use your real-world industry experience to bring electrical regulations, materials, installation methods and safe working practices to life, while supporting learners through assessment, feedback and their wider development.

The ideal candidate will have worked within the electrical industry and hold a vocational qualification in Electrical Installation or a closely related discipline. Previous teaching or training experience is desirable but not essential, as full support can be provided for experienced electricians looking to transition into education and work towards a recognised teaching qualification.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Electrician to come off the tools, develop a long-term career within Further Education and make a genuine impact on learners entering the trade.

    The role:

*Deliver Electrical Installation programmes across Levels 1, 2 and 3.
*Deliver a mixture of practical workshop sessions and classroom theory.
*Cover electrical regulations, standards, materials and installation methods.
*Plan engaging sessions that develop both technical knowledge and practical ability.
*Mark learner work, provide clear feedback and use assessment results to support progress.
*Maintain accurate learner assessment and progress records.
*Provide pastoral support and guidance to learners.
*Monitor attendance, behaviour, achievement and learner progression.
*Support students towards apprenticeships, employment and further qualifications.
*Contribute to curriculum development and departmental initiatives.
*Support Open Evenings, taster sessions, school liaison and recruitment activity.
*Full-time and part-time permanent opportunities available.
*Support provided to gain a recognised teaching qualification.

    The person:

*Experienced Electrician or Electrical Installation professional.
*Vocational qualification in Electrical Installation or a closely related discipline.
*Strong current knowledge of electrical regulations and industry standards.
    *Practical, up-to-date electrical trade experience.
*Teaching or training qualification desirable but not essential.
*Willingness to work towards a teaching qualification if required.
*GCSE English and Maths at Grade C / 4 or equivalent, or willing to work towards during probation.
*Patient, methodical and confident explaining technical information.
*Able to adapt your approach to different learners and learning styles.
*Organised and comfortable managing marking, attendance and administration.
*Willing to develop IT and digital learning skills.
*Committed to safeguarding, inclusion and learner success.
*Able to travel between sites when required.
*Passionate about passing on industry knowledge and developing the next generation of electricians.
