How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Senior HR Business Partner

    Location: Barrow-in-Furness / Hybrid
    Contract: 2-year contract

We are looking for an experienced HR Business Partner to join our team and provide trusted, commercially focused HR expertise across the organisation. This is an exciting opportunity for an HR professional who can build strong relationships with managers and leaders, provide practical and strategic advice, and help shape a high-performing and engaged workforce.

Working closely with peers, stakeholders and business leadership, you will help build organisational and people capability and support the development and implementation of effective, consistent people strategies and initiatives. You will act as a trusted point of HR expertise, providing advice, coaching and challenge to managers while ensuring people decisions support the organisation’s values, culture and strategic priorities.

A key part of the role will be developing strong relationships with managers and leaders, understanding their people challenges and providing practical HR advice, coaching and support. You will help managers develop their leadership capability, improve business effectiveness and confidently manage a range of people-related situations.

You will play an important role in driving a high-performing culture, supporting the performance management cycle and helping managers identify and address performance issues throughout the year. You will also provide guidance on employee relations matters, supporting effective investigations and helping managers resolve complex issues fairly, consistently and in line with company policy, best practice and employment legislation.

The role will also involve supporting wider organisational and HR projects and initiatives. This may include performance reviews, reward activity, payroll communications, talent management, succession planning, workforce planning and organisational change. You will work collaboratively with internal teams and external providers to ensure HR initiatives are delivered effectively.

Resourcing will form part of the role, working with managers, service providers and recruitment agencies in line with agreed processes. You will also help ensure HR queries and requests are managed efficiently, providing accessible and consistent support to managers and employees.

You will maintain a strong understanding of employment legislation and regulatory requirements, helping to minimise risk and ensure compliance. Where required, you will work alongside legal, occupational health and other external specialists to provide appropriate support and guidance.

We are looking for someone with broad HR experience across areas such as employee relations, reward, HR operations, business partnering, resourcing and learning and development. You will have strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the confidence to challenge and question appropriately and to work effectively with senior managers.

Commercial awareness is important, as is the ability to understand the wider business context and translate people challenges into practical and effective HR solutions. You will be comfortable gathering information from a range of sources, assessing different options and making well-informed recommendations.

You will also have a good understanding of current HR best practice and emerging trends, together with a strong working knowledge of employment legislation and its practical application within the workplace.

A degree or equivalent qualification in an appropriate discipline is preferred, together with a CIPD qualification or equivalent professional experience.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HR professional who enjoys working as a trusted business partner, developing leaders, solving people challenges and making a tangible contribution to organisational performance.

If you are an experienced HR professional looking for a role where you can influence, advise and make a real difference, we would love to hear from you
