We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join a growing engineering team in Cramlington.This is a hands-on, project-focused role where you will be responsible for developing mechanical solutions for retrofit and upgrade projects within the power generation and gas turbine industry.
Mechanical Engineer Roles & Responsibilities:
* Develop mechanical designs and solutions for retrofit and upgrade projects
* Use customer requirements, site conditions and 3D scan data to develop layouts
* Develop dismantling and installation methodologies
* Plan site works, including lifting equipment, cranes and temporary works
* Support lifting studies and equipment condition assessments
* Coordinate mechanical interfaces between existing and new equipment
* Work closely with Project, Engineering, Operations and Site Teams
* Ensure designs are practical to manufacture, transport and install
* Support FEED studies, technical documentation and safety reviews
* Liaise with customers, fabricators and external stakeholders
* Ensure compliance with CDM, safety and quality standards
Mechanical Engineer Ideal Candidate:
* HNC minimum in Mechanical Engineering; degree preferred
* 3+ years' relevant mechanical engineering experience
* Experience within technical, project-driven environments
* Experience with retrofit, upgrade or turnkey engineering projects
* Strong knowledge of dismantling, installation and site planning
* Understanding of lifting requirements, crane planning and temporary works
* Experience working with existing installations and challenging site conditions
* Confident using AutoCAD, Inventor and 3D modelling
* Good understanding of CDM and site safety
* FEED, fabrication inspection or FAT experience would be advantageous
* Willingness to travel to customer and project sites when required
