How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

    Location: London

    Are you confident supporting pupils with autism, communication needs, learning difficulties and/or challenging behaviour?

    TeacherActive is currently recruiting 3 SEN Teaching Assistants to join a specialist SEN setting in London.

    We are recruiting for:

    2 x General SEN Teaching Assistants – supporting pupils across the school with their learning, communication, behaviour and individual needs.
    1 x 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant – providing dedicated individual support to a pupil throughout the school day.
    As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and other support staff to provide a safe, structured and positive learning environment. You will help pupils access lessons, develop their communication and social skills and work towards individual learning and EHCP targets.

    For the 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant position, you will provide consistent individual support, helping the pupil engage with learning, manage their emotions and behaviour and develop greater confidence and independence.

    A patient, calm and adaptable approach is essential. You should be comfortable supporting pupils who may have complex learning, communication, sensory or behavioural needs.

    The successful SEN Teaching Assistants will have:

    Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND
    Experience with autism/ASC, learning difficulties, communication needs and/or challenging behaviour
    A patient, caring and resilient approach
    Confidence providing 1:1 and small-group support
    Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
    The ability to follow individual support plans and EHCP targets
    Confidence supporting pupils with their learning and development
    Strong communication and teamwork skills
    The ability to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
    A good understanding of safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
    A proactive and flexible approach to supporting individual needs

    Key Responsibilities:

    Provide classroom and individual SEN support
    Support pupils with their academic, social and emotional development
    Provide 1:1 support where required
    Help pupils access and engage with classroom activities
    Support communication and interaction
    Encourage positive behaviour and emotional regulation
    Use appropriate strategies to manage challenging situations
    Support pupils in developing confidence and independence
    Work towards individual learning targets and EHCP outcomes
    Work closely with teachers, SEN staff and other professionals
    Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff
    Maintain a safe, calm and supportive learning environment
    Follow safeguarding procedures and prioritise pupil wellbeing
