How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Registered Manager - Specialist Therapeutic Children's Home
    Salary: £55,500 - £64,500 per annum + additional sleep-in payments

    Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm
    Location: Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire
    Job Type: Full-time

    About the Role
    An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Registered Manager to join a specialist therapeutic children's residential service.

    The home is a 3-bed therapeutic setting supporting children and young people, with a strong focus on providing a safe, nurturing and supportive environment and achieving positive outcomes.
    As Registered Manager, you will take overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of the home, ensuring that children and young people receive high-quality care and that the service operates in line with its Statement of Purpose, regulatory requirements and safeguarding responsibilities.

    You will provide strong leadership to the staff team, ensuring they are confident, motivated and equipped to provide consistently high standards of care. You will also work closely with social workers, local authorities, families and other professionals involved in the care of the young people.

    Key Responsibilities
    * Take overall responsibility for the effective management and operation of the home.
    * Ensure children and young people have their individual needs met and achieve positive outcomes.
    * Provide leadership, direction, guidance and support to the staff team.
    * Develop and maintain a competent, motivated and confident workforce.
    * Ensure safeguarding, health and safety and welfare requirements are consistently met.
    * Maintain high standards of recording, documentation and care planning.
    * Ensure the home operates in accordance with its Statement of Purpose and relevant legislation.
    * Work collaboratively with social workers, local authorities and other professionals.
    * Attend professional and formal meetings and prepare appropriate reports.
    * Monitor the home's environment, equipment and facilities to ensure they remain safe and well maintained.
    * Lead the service through inspections and work towards achieving and maintaining a positive inspection outcome.
    * Participate in the on-call manager rota and provide out-of-hours support when required.
    * Promote a therapeutic, inclusive and child-centred approach throughout the home.
    * Support the continued professional development of staff and contribute to the development of the wider service.

    Essential Requirements
    * Previous managerial experience within a residential childcare setting.
    * Minimum 3 years' experience working with children and young people in residential care, including at least 2 years at senior level.
    * Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People's Workforce or equivalent.
    * Experience leading and developing residential childcare teams.
    * Experience of inspections and regulatory requirements within children's residential care.
    * Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and regulatory frameworks.
    * Experience working with professional networks and attending multi-agency meetings.
    * Experience preparing formal reports and maintaining accurate records.
    * Good understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality.
    * Knowledge of child development and the needs of children and young people.
    * Resilience, motivation and the ability to respond effectively to challenging and changing situations.
    * Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    * Ability to work flexibly, including occasional weekends and sleep-ins where required.
    * Ability to participate in an out-of-hours on-call rota.
    * Full UK driving licence.
    * Willingness to undertake an enhanced DBS check.

    Desirable
    * Level 5 Leadership and Management qualification or Level 4 Registered Manager Award, or equivalent.
    * Experience within a therapeutic children's residential setting.
    * Understanding of attachment and trauma-informed practice.
    * Proven positive inspection history.
    * Experience successfully developing staff teams and individual employees.
    * Commitment to ongoing professional development and further qualifications.
