We are seeking a Mechanical Area Engineer to support the management and delivery of our mechanical maintenance function, ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of site assets.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced engineering professional with strong mechanical and hydraulic knowledge who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and is passionate about continuous improvement, reliability, and safety excellence.
What You'll Be Doing
As Mechanical Area Engineer, you will:
* Lead and support the delivery of safe, compliant, and effective mechanical maintenance activities, ensuring maximum asset reliability, performance, and availability.
* Provide technical expertise across mechanical and hydraulic systems, including fault finding, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Promote a strong Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality culture, ensuring compliance with legislation, company standards, and best practice.
* Coordinate maintenance planning, shutdown activities, contractor management, spare parts requirements, and maintenance documentation through systems such as Maximo.
* Drive reliability improvements through Root Cause Analysis (RCA), predictive and preventative maintenance programmes, and asset lifecycle management.
* Lead, support, and develop maintenance technicians while fostering effective cross-functional collaboration across the site.
* Monitor maintenance performance, KPIs, and improvement opportunities to enhance operational efficiency, equipment reliability, and customer satisfaction.
In order to be successful in this role you must have:
* NVQ or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
* Previous experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
* Strong knowledge of mechanical maintenance principles and practices.
* Experience with hydraulic systems, fault finding, and equipment reliability.
* Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
* Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
* A proactive approach to safety, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
It would be great if you had:
* Experience using CMMS systems such as Maximo.
* Knowledge of preventative, predictive, and reliability-centred maintenance methodologies.
* Experience leading maintenance teams, shutdowns, or contractor activities.
