How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Quality Advisor – Civil Engineering & Utilities

    Location: North West – Kearsley office with travel across the region
    Salary: £40,000 – £45,000
    Benefits: Company Car or Car Allowance
    Employment Type: Permanent

    J3A Recruitment is working with an established civil engineering and utilities contractor looking to appoint a Quality Advisor to support projects across the North West.

    This is a hands-on quality position where you’ll work closely with project and site teams to drive a right first time approach, improve standards and ensure projects are delivered in line with client specifications, industry requirements and company management systems.

    The position is based from the company’s Kearsley office, with regular travel across projects throughout the North West.

    The core focus of the role is promoting good quality practice across the business while ensuring projects comply with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 requirements.

    What will you be doing?

    * Supporting project and site teams with quality standards and documentation

    * Carrying out internal, project and supply chain quality audits

    * Ensuring compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001

    * Reviewing client specifications and communicating requirements to project teams

    * Producing and reviewing Quality Plans and Inspection & Test Plans

    * Identifying and managing non-conformances

    * Carrying out root cause analysis and supporting corrective actions

    * Monitoring and reporting Quality KPIs

    * Supporting external audits and accreditation requirements

    * Driving continuous improvement across live projects

    * Promoting a strong “right first time” culture

    * Supporting effective project handovers between design and construction teams

    The role also involves periodic systems reviews, supporting continuous improvement programmes and leading internal and supply chain audits.

    What are we looking for?

    We’re looking for somebody with experience working within civil engineering, utilities or infrastructure who is comfortable working directly with site and project teams.

    Ideally, you’ll have:

    * Level 4 / HNC qualification in Quality or a related discipline

    * Previous experience within a civil engineering environment

    * Working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001

    * Lead Auditor qualification or relevant auditing experience

    * Experience completing quality audits

    * Knowledge of root cause analysis and corrective actions

    * CSCS Card

    * Strong knowledge of quality processes and continuous improvement

    * Strong written and verbal communication skills

    * Full UK Driving Licence

    Knowledge of NHSS 16 & 30, MURS, Lean principles or CQI membership would be advantageous.

    What’s on offer?

    * £40,000 – £45,000 salary

    * Company Car or Car Allowance

    * Permanent position

    * Established civil engineering and utilities contractor

    * Projects throughout the North West

    * Opportunity to work closely with operational and project teams

    * Long-term career development and progression

    * Varied role covering quality, auditing and continuous improvement

    This is a great opportunity for a Quality Advisor who wants to get away from purely paperwork-driven quality roles and have a genuine influence on how projects are delivered.

    You’ll be working directly with operational teams, helping improve standards, reduce defects and make sure projects are delivered right first time.
