How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Your new company
    A well-established further education organisation in Essex is looking for a proactive HR Business Partner to influence people strategy, support complex employee relations matters, and help deliver an outstanding employee experience across the organisation. This is a temporary to permanent role.

    Your new role

    Provide expert HR leadership and advice on all employee relations matters, including disciplinary, grievance, capability, absence management, restructures, redundancies, TUPE and organisational change, minimising legal and employee relations risks.
    Safeguarding to oversee and ensure compliance with safer recruitment practices and supporting the HRD in any safeguarding matters, including during Ofsted inspections.
    Line Management of the HR team. Responsible for implementation of all staff management processes including, appraisals, training and development.
    Deputise for the Executive Director of HR as required, providing leadership and ensuring continuity of service across the HR function.
    Oversee the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, pre-employment checks, contracts, performance management, family leave, absence management and employee exits, ensuring compliance with employment legislation and policies.
    Provide proactive business partnering support to senior leaders and managers, building trusted relationships and coaching them on the effective application of HR policies, procedures and people management practices.
    Work with the Executive Director of HR to deliver the HR Strategy, supporting organisational objectives, workforce planning, succession planning and talent development initiatives.
    Drive improvements in people management capability and organisational performance, influencing managers to adopt effective leadership and employee management practices and addressing employment-related risks.
    Lead the management and integrity of HR data, producing and analysing workforce metrics, management information and reports to monitor trends, evaluate policy effectiveness, support compliance, and inform strategic and operational decision-making.
    Collaborate with Occupational Health, Trade Union representatives and other key stakeholders to maintain positive working relationships, ensure compliance and support employee wellbeing and organisational effectiveness.
    Support and promote the Wellbeing Strategy, contributing to initiatives that enhance employee engagement, health and wellbeing.
    What you'll need to succeed

    Ideally CIPD Qualified
    Substantial experience of working in a HR Business Partner role working proactively with line managers to improve staff management.
    Experience of managing and developing staff.
    Competent in Safer Recruitment and Right to Work requirements.
    Competent in coaching others and staff development skills
    Substantial experience of handling complex employee relations matters, including change management, restructures, disciplinary and grievance processes, providing expert advice to managers and staff.
    Excellent communication skills.
    Competent in the use of Microsoft software and HR systemsWhat you'll get in return
