How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job Title: Highways Operative

    Base Location: Newquay (PL25 4DS)

Salary: £26,711- plus a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

Working Pattern: Full Time (37 Hours) , Monday – Friday 8am-4pm. Once fully trained you will join a standby rota (currently 1 in 6 weeks) which will attract additional payments for standby duties and call outs.

Enerveo is one of the UK’s leading Highways Electrical contractors, delivering full-service street lighting and highway electrical solutions for local authorities and infrastructure partners. With expertise in lighting design, installation, project management, maintenance and the integration of smart technologies, we manage over one million street lights across the UK and help towns and cities become safer, smarter, greener and more efficient

Could you be our next Highways Operative to join the team and drive this success forwards?

What will I be doing in this role?

In this role, you'll play an important part in keeping a range of technology and infrastructure assets clean, well maintained, safe and operational. This includes security and ANPR cameras, CCTV equipment, parking machines and other technology used by our clients and the communities they serve.

You'll work across a variety of locations, from outdoor environments and the highway to customer and business sites. The role is hands-on and practical, and you'll be working in different environments and weather conditions as you travel between sites.

The work you do will help keep these important assets operating effectively, looking their best and providing a reliable service for our clients and their customers every day.

    In a typical day, you could expect to be;

    * Carrying out planned cleaning and maintenance activities on a range of technology and infrastructure assets, ensuring work is completed safely, to a high standard and on time.

    * Cleaning and maintaining equipment such as security and ANPR cameras, CCTV, and parking machines.

    * Removing stickers, graffiti, posters, dirt and other debris from assets to keep them clean, presentable and accessible.

    * Supporting fault repairs and installation of electrical equipment including CCTV

    * Carrying out basic checks of equipment and reporting any damage, faults or issues that may require further attention.

    * Working outdoors in a range of weather conditions, as well as at indoor and customer locations, depending on the work required.

    * Following all relevant health and safety procedures, site requirements and planned maintenance schedules.

    * Working independently while travelling between locations, while also working closely with colleagues and customers when required.

What do I need to be successful in the role?

You don't need to have experience of working on every type of equipment we'll be maintaining. What's important is that you're practical, reliable and willing to learn.

    * Be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions and in a range of different environments.

    * Enjoy practical, hands-on work and take pride in keeping equipment clean, safe and well maintained.

    * Be confident working with technology and equipment, with the ability to follow instructions and learn how different assets work.

    * Have good attention to detail and be able to spot and report damage, faults or anything that doesn't look right.

    * Be able to work independently, manage your workload and complete planned tasks safely and on time.

    * Have a strong focus on health and safety and always follow the correct procedures when working on or around equipment.

    * Be reliable, organised and professional when working at different locations and around customers and members of the public.

    * Be willing to learn new skills and develop your knowledge of the different equipment and assets you'll be working with.

    * Have a full UK driving licence, as you'll be travelling between different locations as part of the role.

    * This role requires you to be vetted for access to airports and Police stations

    Some of our ‘nice to haves’ are;

    * Previous experience in a labouring, highways, construction or civils environment would be beneficial, although full training can be provided for the right candidate.

    * Experience of working outdoors or in a physically demanding role would be an advantage.

    * An understanding of health and safety requirements when working on or near the highway would be helpful, but isn't essential.
