We’re working with a dynamic and growing M&E consultancy in Cambridge that is looking to strengthen its electrical design team and is open to candidates from Senior Engineer through to Principal Engineer level.
Whether you’re an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer ready to take the next step, or an established Principal Engineer looking for a role with greater influence, this is an opportunity to join a consultancy where you can make a real impact.
The opportunity
You’ll be joining a collaborative team working across a varied portfolio of building services projects. The business has a strong pipeline of work and is looking for engineers who want to be involved in interesting projects while having the freedom to develop their own career.
Depending on your experience and level, you’ll have the opportunity to take ownership of projects, work directly with clients, provide technical leadership and support the development of other engineers.
You could be involved in:
• Leading and delivering electrical building services designs from concept through to completion
• Producing calculations, specifications, drawings and technical reports
• Developing electrical strategies and practical engineering solutions
• Working closely with architects, contractors, clients and other consultants
• Coordinating electrical designs across multidisciplinary project teams
• Attending client, design and project meetings
• Reviewing and checking designs to ensure quality and compliance
• Providing technical guidance and mentoring to junior and intermediate engineers
• Taking ownership of project delivery, programmes and technical outputs
• Contributing to the continued development of the electrical team and wider consultancy
For Principal-level candidates, there will also be the opportunity to take a leading role in technical delivery, develop client relationships, mentor the wider team and contribute to the future growth of the business.
About you
We’re interested in hearing from experienced electrical building services engineers who are looking for a genuine long-term opportunity.
You’ll ideally have:
• Strong electrical building services design experience
• Previous consultancy experience
• Good knowledge of UK standards, regulations and industry best practice
• Experience working on a range of building services projects
• Strong technical and design skills
• Excellent communication and client-facing ability
• The confidence to take ownership and make technical decisions
• Experience supporting or mentoring other engineers
• Relevant engineering qualifications
Chartered status or working towards chartership would be advantageous, particularly for Principal-level candidates.
