How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Responsibilities will include:

Leading and delivering hydraulic analysis and design across a range of potable water and wastewater projects.
Producing and reviewing engineering calculations, specifications, drawings and technical reports.
Developing hydraulic calculations and hydraulic profiles for water and wastewater treatment works.
Providing technical guidance, mentoring and support to more junior engineers.
Working directly with clients and other stakeholders to support effective project delivery.
Identifying and communicating issues that could affect programme, quality or cost.
Preparing time and budget estimates as part of bids and proposals.
Working collaboratively with environmental, geotechnical, structural, electrical, mechanical and other technical disciplines.

Experience with surge analysis, transmission pipelines and/or large-scale drainage systems.
Practical experience across one or more stages of the project lifecycle.
Experience using surge analysis software such as WANDA or Bentley HAMMER.
Experience developing hydraulic calculations and hydraulic profiles for water and wastewater treatment works.
Experience leading the technical delivery of projects and managing budgets within an area of responsibility.
Experience working within multidisciplinary water, pipeline or network projects.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with clients, colleagues and non-technical stakeholders.

    Desirable Experience

    The following would be advantageous:

Transmission pipeline design, including route and material selection, hydraulic design, steel pipe wall thickness calculations and thrust restraint solutions.
Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) applied to the water industry.
Experience supervising physical scale modelling studies.
Understanding of designers' responsibilities under CDM.
Experience with clean water network modelling software such as EPANET, WaterGEMS or InfoWorks.
Chartered status with a relevant professional institution, such as ICE or CIWEM.

    The Opportunity
