How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Company Description The Wimbledon Smokehouse is dedicated to producing high-quality smoked fish using carefully selected fresh ingredients. The company supplies its products to Michelin-starred and high-end restaurants, casual dining venues, and specialist fishmongers. With a strong focus on craftsmanship and consistency, The Wimbledon Smokehouse maintains high standards across all stages of production. Team members join a business that values attention to detail, food safety, and customer satisfaction.
Role Description The Night Time Supervisor is a full-time, on-site role based in London, responsible for overseeing night shift operations in the smokehouse. This role includes supervising production activities, monitoring product quality, and ensuring all food safety and hygiene standards are followed. The Night Time Supervisor coordinates staff schedules, assigns tasks, and supports team members to keep operations running smoothly and efficiently. Additional responsibilities include tracking inventory levels, reporting any equipment or maintenance issues, and communicating key updates to daytime management. The role requires a hands-on approach, consistent presence on the production floor, and readiness to respond to operational needs throughout the night shift.
    Qualifications
    • Experience supervising teams in a food production, manufacturing, or hospitality environment, preferably within seafood or similar perishable goods.
    • Knowledge of food safety, HACCP principles, and hygiene regulations, with a strong focus on quality control and safe handling practices.
    • Strong organizational and time-management skills, including the ability to coordinate workflows, manage schedules, and meet production deadlines.
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to give clear instructions, support team members, and resolve issues calmly.
    • Ability to work reliably during night shifts, maintain attention to detail, and remain alert in a fast-paced, physically active environment.
    • Comfort with basic record-keeping and reporting, including shift logs, inventory updates, and incident documentation.
    • Previous experience in smokehouse operations or seafood processing is an advantage but not essential; training can be provided.
    • Right to work in the UK and willingness to comply with all company policies, health and safety procedures, and operational standards.
