Global Law Firm –Regulatory Compliance Lawyer

We are seeking a qualified practicing lawyer with around 5+ years’ PQE gained in a large national or international law firm to join the firm’s risk and compliance team. The role will be a trusted advisor to the firm’s senior management team and will be instrumental in providing advice on regulatory compliance and professional conduct issues.
The role involves raising awareness and training colleagues about current regulatory requirements, horizon scanning and supporting the firm to implement new policies and procedures where necessary, managing internal incidents and breaches of regulation, and responding to enquiries from fee-earners on best practice. Your knowledge will need to span SRA and other regulatory regimes, such as FCA, it will also include ESG risk and regulatory requirements.
The ideal candidate will be a mid-to-senior level lawyer who has previous experience of working in-house in a law firm legal function, although we will consider other professional services firms and comparable organisations. You must be able to demonstrate prior experience of the requirements listed above and have a desire to develop your knowledge further.
The key to this role is being able to relate to stakeholders at all levels and you must have strong communications skills. You should be able to deal with complex and forensic issues as they arise and provide clear and concise advice to the firm’s fee-earners and partners. The role will require the postholder to work at a senior level across numerous jurisdictions, so it is essential that you are confident, approachable, diplomatic and able to command respect. The issues that arise are often sensitive and confidential in nature and the role directly relates to the risk profile of the firm. You will also be required to supervise and mentor junior members of the team.
