How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Principal / Associate Civil Engineer
    Remote (UK)
    £65,000 – £75,000 + Benefits

    About the Company

    An established multidisciplinary consultancy with close to two decades of experience delivering planning, civil engineering and environmental services across the UK. The team works across a broad mix of residential, commercial, industrial and renewable energy developments, delivering sustainable, technically sound solutions from initial concept right through to project completion.

    As the business continues to grow, they're now looking for an experienced Principal or Associate Civil Engineer to join their expanding team.

    The Role

    This is a strong opportunity for a senior Civil Engineer to take a leading role delivering flood risk and drainage projects across a wide range of development sectors. Working remotely within a collaborative, experienced team, you'll lead projects, act as a technical authority, mentor more junior engineers, and build lasting relationships with clients and stakeholders.

    The position offers a high degree of autonomy, along with real influence over how projects are delivered and the chance to help shape the continued growth of the civil engineering team.

    Key Responsibilities

    Lead the delivery of flood risk assessments, drainage strategies and detailed drainage design
    Prepare and review technical reports, calculations and engineering designs
    Design sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) and surface water management solutions
    Manage projects from feasibility through to planning and detailed design
    Liaise with clients, local authorities and statutory consultees
    Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior team members
    Ensure projects are delivered on programme, on budget and to a high technical standard
    Support business development and help nurture client relationshipsAbout You

    A degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
    Significant post-qualification experience, ideally at Principal or Associate level
    Strong background in flood risk assessments, drainage strategies and SuDS design
    Experience with industry-standard software such as MicroDrainage, InfoDrainage or Causeway Flow
    Solid understanding of UK drainage legislation, planning policy and design standards
    Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
    Proven ability to lead projects and juggle multiple priorities
    Chartered status (ICE), or working towards it, would be advantageousWhat's on Offer
