How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Health & Safety Advisor

    The Role

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to join a growing project team working on a major infrastructure and renewable energy development in the East of Scotland.

Reporting into senior project and HSE management, you will provide professional health, safety and environmental advice across the project, working closely with site teams, contractors and clients to ensure high standards are maintained throughout delivery.

This is an excellent opportunity for an H&S professional looking to join a well-established contractor with long-term career opportunities, professional development and exposure to major infrastructure projects.

    Key Responsibilities

Support the development and ongoing management of HSE plans and project documentation.

Assist with the preparation, review and approval of RAMS, Task Briefings, Permits to Dig and other safety documentation.

Deliver site inductions, safety briefings and toolbox talks.

Engage with site teams and workforce to promote positive safety behaviours and a strong safety culture.

Provide competent H&S advice to project managers, site management, contractors and subcontractors.

Identify project-specific risks and provide practical solutions to manage and mitigate them.

Conduct regular site inspections, audits and HSE monitoring activities.

Assist with incident reporting, investigation and corrective action processes.

Monitor compliance with company HSE procedures, legislation and project requirements.

Support the coaching and mentoring of site teams to improve HSE standards.

Maintain accurate HSE records and produce regular reports on project performance.

Monitor HSE trends and identify areas for continuous improvement.

Attend project and client meetings, providing HSE updates and professional advice.

Work closely with contractors and subcontractors to ensure compliance with required standards.

Support the delivery of a positive and proactive safety culture across the project.

    About You

The successful candidate will ideally have:

NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate as a minimum.

Technical or Certified IOSH membership, with progression towards Chartered status desirable.

Previous experience within civil engineering, construction, utilities, renewable energy or infrastructure.

Ideally 2–3 years’ experience working for a Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractor.

Strong understanding of construction health and safety legislation and best practice.

Experience with RAMS, site inspections, audits, incident investigations and contractor management.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage confidently with site teams, contractors, clients and senior management.

Strong report writing and documentation skills.

Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

A proactive, organised and practical approach to health and safety.

    Full UK driving licence.

Willingness to travel to various UK sites and stay away when required.

Full right to work in the UK – sponsorship is not available for this position.

    Training & Development

The company is committed to developing its people through a combination of practical experience, on-the-job training and further professional and academic qualifications where appropriate.

This role offers the opportunity to build experience across major infrastructure projects while continuing to develop professionally within a supportive HSE environment
