How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Mechanical Design Engineer – 2-Year FTC
Exclusive Vacancy – White Label Recruitment

Are you a Mechanical Design Engineer with experience using SolidWorks to design machinery, fabricated equipment or large mechanical assemblies?

Would you like a role where you’ll work across a genuine variety of engineering projects, rather than designing the same components day in, day out?

White Label Recruitment has been exclusively appointed by an established and growing engineering and manufacturing business to recruit two Mechanical Design Engineers for their team.

The company designs and manufactures specialist mechanical equipment and complete installations for customers in the UK and internationally.

Due to a major new product development programme, two experienced engineers are moving onto dedicated development projects, creating two opportunities within the existing Design team. Both positions are initially being recruited on a two-year fixed-term contract.

As these vacancies are being managed exclusively by White Label Recruitment, all applications will come directly through us and we can give you a full overview of the company, role, team and interview process before your details are submitted.

    The Role

You’ll join an established Design team working across a broad range of mechanical design projects. The company deliberately develops multi-skilled engineers, so you won’t be pigeonholed into one specific area.

Depending on your previous experience, your work could include:

    *

Designing and detailing mechanical machinery and equipment.

    *

Producing 2D and 3D designs for large fabricated assemblies.

    *

Creating plant, site and installation layouts.

    *

Designing ductwork, pipework, mezzanine structures and associated equipment.

    *

Producing detailed manufacturing, assembly and installation drawings.

    *

Developing bespoke designs around customer requirements and individual site constraints.

    *

Working closely with Manufacturing, Purchasing, Assembly and wider Engineering teams to ensure designs are practical and manufacturable.

    *

Reviewing drawings for technical accuracy and quality before release.

    *

Supporting Manufacturing and Installation teams with technical queries.

    *

Managing drawing revisions, technical records and engineering documentation.

    *

Identifying opportunities to improve design standards and processes.

SolidWorks is the main CAD package, with AutoCAD and Revit also used depending on the project.

    The Person

    Ideally, you will have:

    *

Previous experience working as a Mechanical Design Engineer, Design Engineer or similar.

    *

Strong 3D CAD experience, ideally using SolidWorks.

    *

Experience designing fabrications, larger mechanical assemblies, machinery or equipment.

    *

A good understanding of manufacturing and fabrication processes.

    *

Experience producing detailed manufacturing and assembly drawings.

    *

The ability to work across different types of mechanical design projects.

    *

Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

    *

A proactive attitude and willingness to learn.

Experience with plant layouts, installation layouts, ductwork, pipework or site-based design would be particularly attractive.

Candidates from special-purpose machinery, industrial equipment, fabricated equipment, process equipment, plant engineering or similar mechanical engineering environments would fit the role well.

A Mechanical Engineering qualification is preferred, although relevant industry experience will also be considered.

    Package & Benefits

    *

    Salary: £35,000 – £44,000, depending on experience.

    *

Hours: 37.5 hours per week with flexible start and finish times.

    *

Core hours: 9am–3pm Monday to Thursday and 9am–2pm Friday, with flexibility around these times provided 37.5 hours are worked.

    *

Holidays: 24 days on commencement, increasing by one day for each completed year of service up to a maximum of 28 days, plus Bank Holidays

    *

Birthday: Additional day off for your birthday.

    *

    Pension: Salary sacrifice pension scheme.

    *

    Electric vehicle salary sacrifice scheme.

    *

Potential for some home working once fully established within the role.

    Why Apply?

This is a good opportunity for somebody who wants genuine variety within their Mechanical Design career.

The business employs around 250 people in the UK and has an established Engineering team, including experienced engineers who have built long careers with the company.

Rather than spending two years working on one repetitive product, you’ll have the opportunity to develop experience across machinery, large fabrications, plant layouts, installation design and complete engineered systems.

You’ll also get the satisfaction of seeing your designs progress from CAD through manufacture and ultimately into installed equipment.

    Why a Fixed-Term Contract?

The company is moving two of its experienced Design Engineers onto a major new machine development programme consisting of three specific development projects.

These vacancies are being created to strengthen the existing Design team while that programme takes place and are expected to run for approximately two years.

There is a genuine possibility of the positions becoming permanent during or following the initial contract due to future workload and longer-term team requirements, although this cannot be guaranteed
