How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Travel Centre Advisor
    £29,764 per annum - Grade 2
    Dewsbury Travel Centre
    Full time / Permanent - 37 hours per week

    We currently have a vacancy for a Travel Centre Advisor to join our brand-new Dewsbury Travel Centre. As part of our ongoing commitment to enhancing the customer experience, the new Dewsbury Travel Centre provides a modern and welcoming environment for both colleagues and customers. We are proud to be part of a network of seven travel centres across West Yorkshire, delivering essential travel services and information to thousands of people every day.
    We are looking for a motivated, approachable, and customer-focused Travel Centre Advisor to join us in this varied and fast-paced role where no two days are the same. You will support a diverse range of customers, from local residents to visitors and tourists, tailoring your communication style to meet individual needs and ensure a positive customer experience.
    As a Travel Centre Advisor, you will be responsible for selling and issuing prepaid tickets, passes, and permits, providing advice on bus and rail services, and helping customers access the information they need to travel confidently across the region. Working independently, you will play a key role in delivering excellent customer service and acting as an ambassador for the Travel Centre and the wider Combined Authority.
    Please note that this is a lone-working role that operates on a shift pattern.
    Monday: 8:30am - 4:30pm Tuesday: Rest day Wednesday: 8:30am - 4:30pm Thursday: 8:30am - 4:30pm Friday: 8:30am - 4:30pm Saturday: 9:00am - 4:30pm Sunday: Rest day

    The Role
    · To sell and/or issue prepaid tickets, passes and permits and issue passenger Information in accordance with laid down procedures.
    · Provide advice for tourist and passenger information for bus and rail services.
    · Be a visible and enthusiastic team member, encouraging partnership working across the organisation. Take a pro-active approach to participating and delivering your directorate’s objectives.

    About You
    You will have the following key skills, attributes, education, and experience:
    · Educated to GCSE level or have equivalent relevant education.
    · Practical experience of successfully performing in a similar role.
    · Experience handing cash or card payments.
    · Dedicated to providing high levels of customer service, with the ability to perform effectively under pressure and on your own initiative.
    · Experience of successfully identifying appropriate communication channels to deliver information in a customer focused environment.
